Time and illness are two cruel dictators. But as long as the human spirit can express itself, they will ultimately fail. "Little" Jimmy Scott was a giant. I shall never forget how his performance of "Sycamore Trees" in _Twin Peaks_ made my spine tingle. Words like 'unique talent' and 'genius' are abused today....James V. Scott was truly both. I hope he is singing to the Universe now.

I had the honor to see Jimmy at the Kennedy Center a few years ago. After his performance I met him and took a few pictures with him. As this was pre cell phone days, I lost the film; however his voice mesmerized me and left an imprint on my soul. He was truly a singer’s singer.

Just found this trailer, a few days ago I kept vigil for my husband's cremation, playing Jimmy Scott's beautiful crafting of "Someone to Watch Over Me" ..never fails to touch my heart and soul and never more so than on that morning. Bless you Jimmy, know you've gone back to a better place, how blessed we were to have you with us for so long. ❤

I had the good - GREAT - fortune to witness this true artist perform at The Jazz Cafe in London - I had never heard of him, can't even remember how I got to be there, I just knew that I was in the presence of a true God of music - as though Elvis or Sinatra had never became famous and you had stumbled upon them in a little bar... I though "what?" - how come the whole world doesn't know this extraordinary man - I am so grateful to have that that experience

I had the honor of hanging with Jimmy on his opening night at the influential 1991 Cinegrill gig. Not before or since have I ever witnessed anyone as spiffed out as he was that evening. Talk about your tux w/o a wrinkle and blindingly shiny patent leather shoes! "Hey, that's how we were brought up in show business," he replied to my remark about his fastidiousness. Then, with his friend Bonnie Raitt linked arm-in-arm with Jimmy on one side and me on the other other, we marched down the hallway arm-in-arm. As we did so, Jimmy shouted out: "IT'S SHOW TIME!" Years later, I saw him perform at a Tokyo jazz club. The place was packed to the walls at the mid-week, 6 o'clock show!
