Modern filmakers take note. The lighting, the shadows, the staging, the contrast, the music, the pathos in the dialouge. This is art. Not the pretentious crap that tries to be artsy today. It's great because it was made by talented people.

It is what I tell everyone, and they say you being an actor why are you judging Other actors ahhh maybe because I don’t want to act especially how they do which has nothing to do with the art of acting. Direction as well is great to witness it in its beauty.

This is a Masterpiece beyond compare....they don't make such legends or simply cannot recreate such movie magic on screen nowadays. Watched Casablanca for the first time some 15-20 years ago, the movie cannot stop haunting me till date.... Cannot stop loving allmost every scene of the movie forever after. This will remain a movie in demand ,in vogue always till there is humanity & love ! Casablanca for Eternity ! 👍❤️💯

When Casbllanca was made it was in the middle of World War II. Indeed, when it was first released November 1942, the Allies were not doing very well. France had fallen, all of Europe was under control of the Nazis, the Philippines had fallen, Singapore had fallen and the Germans had pushed deep into the Soviet Union. North Africa, the axis powers were dominating. When one considers this, the power of the scene is increased. Not only had the screenplay not been finished when they filmed the scene, and therefore it was a story without an ending (as this scene says), the war itself was a story that did not have an ending yet. I think the film is especially powerful because contemporaries saw more than just a romance but a romance set against a backdrop of a real war playing out in real time. War that did not have an ending when the film was made

The American Film Institute rating the top 100 movie quotes of all time has Casablanca with the most quotes, I think six. Somehow, magic happened, when the filmmakers didn't have hard plan... they sort of winged it with the screenplay.

I'm no expert but I read that scenarists decides that they wanna ditch Laszlo and get him arrested and rick and Elsa end up together. It was world war 2 then they decided that the love of two people is less important than history of humanity, so they changed the ending which was poetic but wrong why? che Guevara fought alone , hasta siempre comandante, Mandela ditched his wife so it was better for Laszlo to be alone and let two lovebirds be with each other. I love French women . I don't give a fuck about politics but I did have responsibilities. my dream is to have a boat on La Seine or a villa à LA campaigne with my wives MDR (wife).
