This is the first of our videos on Cascais proper... we hope you enjoyed the previous videos on our Workaway, walking to Estoril and cycling to Praia do Guincho. One of the challenges we have making these videos is that I (Mandy) tend to film something every time I go out... so we have 18 days worth of snippets to put together into cohesive videos! :)) ALSO, we will almost always be 1-3 months behind as we might only spend 1 week in a place but will make 4-7 videos from there! That's why this video is from January, when we were excited to reach 5k subscribers... we currently have 6.39k subscribers as of the day this video was published - thank you all so very much! 😃😁🙏! In this first video I decided to show some of the things I loved about Cascais. I'm working on the next one, which will be called Budget Cascais... then there'll be a third and final video featuring everything else! We hope you enjoy this video. We always love to hear from you, so it would be great if you take the time to leave a comment below. Wishing you all the best, Mandy and Lee!

Finding your films really helpful for an upcoming trip to lisbon.Your info is unique as tell us what other youtube films dont mention!Good you show prices and menus of several restaurants not just one you are eating at.The lunchtime menus are great value as include drinks.Even something as basic as explaining where and how much toilets are is handy info.Appreciate you giving bus numbers for those of us not as fit as you pair who cant walk 10 km a day😂

Thanks for the great video - particularly the tip about the Museu da Vila! We visited Cascais last week and spent over an hour at the museum. Hello Tamara, and thank you for the great tip! We didn't see any signs for Happy Hour anywhere in Cascais, so it's great to get advice from a local! You know I'm all about prices, so could you remember the prices for an Imperial or a Caneca during Happy Hour? 😁😃 ~ Mandy

I'm pretty sure they were lobster pots Lee. Again, I love the cobbles and tiles which add so much character to the streets, and the architecture which is like a sophisticated upmarket take on mediteranianism. If mediteranianism wasn't a word, it is now and I'm happy for it to be attributed to me!
@FrugalTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Mark. I thought as much. They seem to be on the menu everywhere! Mediteranianism... I like that. It describes it well. I'll start throwing it into conversation and see what response I get. 😉 I think you'd like Casciais. It has some real charm. 👍😊
@FrugalTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Wikipedia... Mediterraneanism is an ideology that claims that there are distinctive characteristics that Mediterranean cultures have in common. Giuseppe Sergi asserted that the Mediterranean race was "the greatest race...derived neither from the black nor white people...an autonomous stock in the human family."

Thank you for the video about Cascais, one of my favorites places near Lisbon, where I go often and for the resturant suggestion. Every time I go this village, I don't know where I can find some vale lunch and I pay a lot. If you are still Cascais, pay a visit to Castro Guimarães palace. Even, if you don't have the chace to visit the museum (it has a pay entry), you can take a look to this wonderful building (buil in early XX century) and to the beautiful park with a beach nearby. Cheers.

This video encourages us to visit Cascais. We will visit Cidadela Art District, it looks interesting. The beautiful view where Lee sat on the bench, is it part of the Cidadela Art District area? Lee’s expression of his dish at the African restaurant was priceless 😂 If we visit this restaurant I will order Lee’s plate and Mandy’s lemon dessert. Does the cost of the lunch include tax and tips?Thank you for sharing hidden gems and beautiful homes.
@FrugalTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sue! Thank you for your wonderful comment, and we really hope that you enjoy Cascais as much as we did! Lee was sitting on a bench just up from Praia do Ribeira... wasn't it a beautiful view! Lee definitely loved the grelhado misto at A Carvoeiro, so much so that he had it 3 times 🤣 I hope they have the lemon meringue pie when you go there, as the desserts change every day. Yes, tax is always included in the prices shown in Portugal... I think it's crazy that it's not shown in the States and Canada, and that people have to work it out themselves! Tipping is at your discretion, many people seem to leave their change. We are so happy that you liked this video, and we really hope it, and the next two on Cascais, prove helpful to you! 😃😁 ~ Mandy
