On October 2 1987, a council employee in Central City, Kentucky reported finding an abandoned, blood-smeared Pontiac outside his workplace. When Lieutenant Billy Fields arrived at the scene, he found the bloody and beaten body of 20-year-old Corinna Mullen in the boot...

I lived here at the time. They had 2 officers to quit, John T Scot and Scot Anderson. The Central City Police office knew who killed that girl, that’s why they quit. Billy Fields was a Lieutenant in the PD, his brother was a Captain, close friends with the Chief. It was covered up because no one ( besides family) cared. She was an unwed mother and that marked her with the PD. EVERYONE THAT HELD OFFICE, IN THE CITY OF CENTRAL CITY AND MUHLENBERG COUNTY, OWE THE MULLINS FAMILY A VERY PUBLIC APOLOGY!!

Absolutely devastating that a woman presenting evidence against a corrupt cop is tortured and murdered by that cop. I don't blame those who didn't go to the authorities. Who could they trust? I don't think I can forget this case.

The saddest thing is that even if she succeeded in giving evidence, I don't think much would have happened to him regardless, with the old boy system in place and all that. She died horrifically for nothing. They did all this to her for no reason really.

Sheriff Moore's comeback of: "I can swim" after being threatened he'd find his ass in the river... would be worthy of Raylan Givens of Justified. Of course that TV series is also set in rural Kentucky.

I'm confused, was the rest of the police department aware of the corruption or were they so inept that they didn't notice? Why wouldn't Jimmy the boyfriend rat out the actual killers, especially when he was charged with her murder? All of the witnesses that were too scared to come forward, could have gone to the state police or FBI. This case shouldn't have taken 20+ years to solve. Thanks again for another excellent episode! Casefile is the absolute best!
@srahhh
@srahhh 3 жыл бұрын
Or the roommate? I'm so confused, the actual solution sounds really implausible. A teenager got kidnapped by a cop just to witness a murder... ? The only thing I can think of is that the essence of the story is true, but the set-up is fabricated to protect Sarah after the fact as an informant-- i.e. she was also there to begin with, not kidnapped and forced into the room. This one just doesn't really click in my head as having a logical solution.

I am glad charges were dropped against one of the individuals. I think it was far above her capabilities as a single person to stand up to a roomful of violent men. And I don't think there was any real motive to this crime except misogyny and sadism.

They were so brave assaulting, raping, and killing a woman in group... /s. What a waste of air. This kinda remind me to "La Manada" case in Spain. The victim didn't die (thanks universe!) but she was raped by 5 psychos, a soldier and a police officer among them 🙂 They recorded the assault and sent it to a group chat with other 20 psychos that should be in jail as well for laughing at the girl, distributing the video, and not reporting the crime. It wasn't their first time raping a girl in group and I'm sure that it would escalate to a murder the next time. Worst part? They will be roaming the streets again in a few years and their wives and girlfriends still support them and even harass people who speak against them. Disgusting.

As soon as I heard that evidence went missing impossible. It had to be a rotten cop who was responsible for her murder including his accomplices. I agree with others why did it have to take so long. A lot of if only....the girl Sarah had come forward a lot earlier it would have been solved within 48 hours. She knew everything. So sad that the mother had died 5 weeks before the guilty verdicts. I would given the death penalty to the perpetrators. No mucking around with me. We have to bring the death penalty back here in Australia especially when it's a serial killer or murderers of innocent children.

I love cases like this: cops going out like that! Most of them are weak psychopaths who dont have the balls to do what they do without a layer of protection. I used to be a pretty evil (if you happen to think that there is objective morality, like most of you do) guy, but i never pretented otherwise, nor had that protection that these guys needed.

@@ulalaFrugilega Id say so, ive scaled my criminal activity to its minimal in nearly 15 years, and the violence that goes with it. For example: ive stomped a man last year just for being disrespectful, one time and not submitting publicly right away. I demand submission from those that are aware of me from those circles, he thought that he can take me. Turns out that he was wrong, and it helped to show a few people how far im willing to go in situations like that, which has been helpful since i havent been active in a while so people tend to forget how i settle scores.

@@ulalaFrugilega Im known as an unpredictable and violent to the point of sadism kind of offender, atleast someone in his group should have told him that if he somehow happened to be unaware of it being the case. Its his fault, i would have continued until his brains were on my sneakers if they could have been more quiet. + It never hurts to teach someone a lesson: Im one of the worst offenders from the point of view of the authorities, and he is a nobody.
