I lived in and around Adelaide; in the hills and out towards Murray Bridge for a while during this whole nasty awful bizarre time. Is it just me or does the DA seem to not want to take on these criminals? I know now it seems that prosecutors only want slam-dunk cases. Thank you for your excellent work.
@thecutecat25613 жыл бұрын
Part of the reason for that is because of double jeopardy. They don't want to try cases on less evidence bc if they lose they can never retry them no matter if future damning evidence or even a confession is to come out. They tend to wait instead and try to gain more evidence. They did charge him with the two other murders, but once the court suppressed using his previous conviction details. This really was needed to show guilt, the rest was then just circumstantial without it. I know it sucks and I do believe corruption exists I'm just not sure it's within the DA in this case. I find the suppression of that evidence very sus though. But it doesn't change the fact you are right in the end cases just don't make it to trial often enough.

Nothing has changed, same in England and USA, and probably everywhere else. I don't think it has much directly to do with being rich but indirectly. Socio paths don't care who they hurt for sexual pleasure. Also, socio paths climb to the top career wise and become wealthy more often than ethical people because evil doesn't play fair. They can then use their financial resources and connections to protect themselves.

I believe I heard of this case but I haven't listened to the podcast yet. I feel that this is a common thing in many countries around the world and is mostly done in cases where there's too much circumstancial evidence where there's a fear that the case will be thrown out in front of a judge in favour of a case that has more concrete evidence. I think that is what happened here and had nothing to do with the family circumstances. If you look at other cases where the killer was only tried for one or two murders when there is a suspicion that they killed more people, you will see that the cases that have concrete evidence that won't end in the cases being thrown out are the ones that are tried. Usually what happens is that a killer will confess to committing other crimes when they are in jail, even leading investigators to burial/dump sites of their victims.
@helenbartoszek243 Жыл бұрын
The reson being that only one murder ended up in court is because Richard's father was a high profile newsreader and TV personality and therefore it could not be covered up. Spencer von Einman procured teen boys for the pleasure of judges, magistrates and doctors etc. and was paid handsomely with money and very special privileges in gaol.

This case was difficult to listen to. Such horror and depravity. It’s obvious that many more monsters were involved in this and it’s frustrating knowing these individuals have got away with it all 😡 As for that prison officer Mary. I hope she went on to have a miserable life as well as the other officers who turned a blind eye. I’m not saying any prisoner should be treated intentionally cruelly, however, criminals are sent to prison for a reason. It’s a punishment for a crime and not a place to dish out special privileges for their favourites. Especially to a man who has tortured and caused so much pain to so many people. She’s a sick as he is 🤢

tbh I'm disgusted at the willingness to work with that other guy, especially if he ended up with immunity and 500grand. "he was ugly or else I might've molested him" - this person thinks this is an acceptable thing to say

Ya immunity is way too much and it led to nothing in the end, at most a plea deal as incentive to testify bc face it he wouldn't do it for free. Now they have given a monster a free pass. Tbh I don't think immunity should even exist in most cases.

I don't mind the commercials it's part of the free upload but the 5 min infomercials are killing my gigs.It seem everytime I go to take a dump or or feed the savages one of the long ones pops on and I can't get to the phone to click off.

The thing that makes me sad about this case is how the only young man’s case with any semblance of closure is the young man who’s family had power and influence. All the other young men mutilated and tortured still have not had any closure to their cases. At the risk of sounding like a Q nut, it really makes me consider the possibility that Vernineam was but a sacrificial lamb/frame job to quell the anger of a powerful family and sadists continue on the streets of Adelaide. Just goes to show that wealth and power always lead to some semblance of justice (regardless if it is false justice) while the undesirable and downtrodden continue to be forgotten and discarded by the public just like the murderers.

This case really highlights the importance of police not being bastards. The queer community would likely have been far more forthcoming had the cops not routinely beat them up and caused deaths. Same goes for sex workers and drug addicts. Legalisation and police accountability leads to so much more harm reduction.

Do you remember Spencer von Einman saying that he would name names and reveal all after his mother died? Hang on, actually Casefile, you wouldn't remember as judging by the sound of your voice you probably hadn't been born. Anyway, that never happened. It was said that von Einman procured teenage boys for supposed 'pillars of the community', such as doctors, high court judges, magistrates etc. For keeping his mouth shut and taking the fall for everyone involved, he and his mother were paid off. Spencer von Einman was given special privileges, being allowed out of gaol at certain times and lovers being able to visit and stay over the weekend. He was allowed a phone and his cell was decked out so that it no longer looked like a cell.

Can I just say that ALL victims matter. Even if they live on the 'edge of society', they still fucking matter. They are people... they deserve justice.
