For painting I generally clean all surfaces with lacquer thinner to remove old reactive coatings. For exposed fiberglass I just use the polyester resin. My van has a fiberglass hood with the corner broken off. Might be a future project! I need to paint my skid steers as well.

After sanding you have to wipe it down with mineral spirits or something of that sort. You'll have to prime it just like you did the side also.

Great video Trenton and I think you made a first class job. Having grown up in farming and then became an engineer, I was always taught and encouraged to take pride in, and to be proud of, the work you do, for it is a reflection of your character. There is also an old saying that “When you take pride in your work, every task becomes an opportunity for greatness.” Also, don't get too down about mistakes, as you will learn from those mistakes, and I can tell you, I made plenty over my lifetime. I am retired now, but I followed these guides in work and life and had a successful life, including my wife and son, and was able to retire in comfort as I got older. You are an excellent example of a hard working young man. Thanks from Scotland.

The cars and trucks of that time had two what we called “flashers”. One for this signal lights and one for the 4 ways. You could hear or feel them them click when activated. They were round “can “ like things about an inch in diameter and usually on the fuse panel. If they are there try swapping them with your other tractor to see if it fixes or moves the trouble. Good luck. I love the care and respect you have for these older tractors.

Thank you for showing us your projects, looked like it was hard, you 4way flashers, are usually on their own circuit, and this a round flasher on the fuse box that it plugs into, like it is for car, you my want to try that, some time they go bad, hope it helps you. Thank you for showing us your part of your day.

Trenton, all really good stuff in this video !! I love the good questions you ask yourself and that you take on difficult jobs. Many people with little experience won't touch a job. You attitude to take on a job and LEARN from doing it and your mistakes is the stuff that makes a good life for a person. You are made of really good stuff. Look at the difference ! Wow! Look at all you have learned and taught yourself. Good for you.

Gettin the ole girl all fixed up!! My experience with paint is #1, ALWAYS use primer (learned that the hard way). Paint will stick and last much better. #2, do multiple light coats of paint. It’s takes way longer but it won’t bubble and act stupid like yours did. Your first coat had set up and the 2nd coat tried to “grab hold of it” and it just screws everything up. Learned that the same way you did…. Don’t give up on painting, it takes a lot of time, prep and patience but sure looks better when done right. Far as your flasher issues, I’m pretty certain the turn signal module runs the 4ways too but it has a wire coming from the main switch to tell it when to turn em on. But you probably checked all that already. Ok that’s enough of a ramble from me! Keep up the good work!!

@@glenmiller3333 Thank you for the input. I wondered if it didn’t have something to do with the turn signal module but when we turn the switch to the flasher position we don’t have any power going into the turn signal module.

Harbor Freight has some reasonable air spray guns that would probably be cheaper than using canned spray paint and give you a more even finish. Maybe save you some time. You have got that one looking good!
