If this was my knife I'd just take a minute with a file to lower the kick, that's all that's needed to get the tip down where it should be. I understand wanting to have Case resolve the issue though. I've never had any major lemons from Case either. I sadly lost my slimline trapper earlier this year, and it was a perfect 10/10 with the w&t and the blade opened perfectly parallel...ect.

Easy fix... grind the kick. That’s the protrusion on the bottom of the tang just behind the edge. It rests against the back spring when the knife is closed. It’s actually a maintenance surface, designed to be adjusted by grinding over time when the tip becomes exposed from sharpening. Be careful and take small amounts at a time until you reach the desired height.

Yup, I knew as soon as I saw the knife before he even said the problem. My grandfather's Slimline Trapper of the exact same config had the same problem. He stopped carrying it because it was tearing up his pants and even bent the tip a bit. I ended up with it after his passing in 2014 and when I realized what it was I did the same thing grinding it down a bit.. well, I used a file.

Jeff, My Case 4 1/4 inch Stocknan had that problem with the main clip blade. What I did was file very little off the blade stop.

My first knife had the tip snapped off. An old schrade usa stockman. I just refiled a tip on it and didnt think about it

I bought a second hand canoe about three years ago. The knife was was so stiff it was very difficult to open and close. I sent it to Case they fixed the problem and had back to me in three weeks. The knife has been perfect since then.

I remember when Schrade replaced their knives even if you said you lost it. Super rare and dating to when most people were honest. I once bought some knives on ebay and found that small pieces of paper were pushed in to hold some blades in place. So as usual buyer beware.

Recent Case Medium Stockman knives have terrible QC. Bad blade rub on Stockman patterns and Blade rock on the Barlows and Mini Copperlocks

Can’t you just tune its position by filing the bump down on the tang. Just behind the sharpening choil.

I've used their warranty service before for trapper model that had blade play out of box. W.R. Case and Sons is a solid company. Just know that they will get your problem fixed like they did mine.

I had a new Gerber and the main spring broke after a few weeks. I sent it back for repair and they said they couldn't repair it? but, mailed me a list of similar knives to choose from many that were more expensive than my broken one. I chose the Obsidian Plane Edge and it has been my EDC for 26years👍🏻

I'd ask for my money back there's a reason i do not buy gerber unless its a actual deal like that small fixed blade bear grylls knife i got new for 5$ im 22 and in my lifetime I've watched their quality take a complete shit in my short existence

Just sent a sway back to Case for a warranty claim a week ago. A pin fell out 20 minutes after taking it out of the box. I first filed on-line like u did with 3 photos. They emailed me 4 days later and said it should be covered under the warranty and provided instructions for sending it back. They recommended insurance and traceable mail. That cost about nine dollars. So it’s been shipped off and now I am waiting to see what happens…keeping my fingers crossed.

Just received my repaired Sway Back from Case. Took almost 4 weeks exactly - significantly quicker than the expected 6-8 weeks. Overall pleased with Case’s service. Hope u have a good experience too

The Case Slim Trapper is an elegant knife that is so easily broken. If Case was too tight on the pins, the scale(s) crack. Drop it, crack. Rare to find a vintage one with perfect scales. Get a diamond file and you can probably fix that problem yourself.

Interesting. I've only seen that on junk knives. Ide guess the cut faces of the back spring and blade are not true. Bought a lion steel big opera and the blade edge hits one the pins and I cannot afford to ship it to maniago italy to be repaired so it's just sitting with a dinged cutting edge. Edit that's not what's touching it's a hump on the back spring.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. Could just be a machining error on the part of the blade that the lock spring tab rides on (not sure what that's called....lol).

This is a common problem now. Last 3 Case knives I bought had proud tips or gaps large enough to slide a credit card in. Really a shame, I have stopped buying Case because of this. You can get a Rough Ryder for far less money, and it blows Case QC out of the water.

Question for zippo lovers: my zippo slim has a really tiny flame. I think the problem is that i put top much fuel, but then again: wouldn’t the flame be bigger? Its abour 1cm long. How can i fix this?

Man I bought a Case trapper with the lock and pocket clip for like 130 CAD and the fucking blade rattled side to side in the open potion,and I mean rattled loudly. I never sent a knife back so quickly,I'll never buy another Case.

TheFroster my small town in Tennessee is where I find my best deals . We have a local auction company that pools together several estate collections of knives for one sale . Recently I have bought old Case , John Primbles , Old Remington etc . It’s as if younger collectors don’t want carbon steel . I bought a Remington pre 1940 equal end 4 inch 4 blade for $40 and I think that is almost insane, never sharpened but when 400 knives are at auction better deals are there
