I enjoyed your video very much. I've lived in Florida for 51 years but I was born and raised in Warren, Pa. near a lot of these knife makers cities. I own a lot of Case knives but the GEC are definitely a step above the Case, they are beautiful. I'm an old man now but still remember my first knife that hooked me. It was in 1959, it was my 10th birthday and my mom bought me the only thing I wanted, an official Cub Scout knife made by Camillus knives. I love that you and you dad share this wonderful hobby. My best to you both.

Great video, that 1/2 on the end of the pattern number means it has a clip point blade, the ones with the spear point are just 62009

GEC knives are very well made, and in my opinion, worth the price. I just wish that they could keep some of my favorites in constant production. I would love for them to make more of their pocket knives in 440C stainless steel for those of us who live in hot and humid climates. Thanks for sharing.

GPKnives is from my old hometown in Illinois. The symbol on the main blade is from an old Indian legend from that area, it is called the Piasa bird. The Piasa bird was drawn by prehistoric Indians on the bluffs of the Mississippi River up by Alton, Illinois. The drawing has been preserved and is maintained to this day on the bluffs north of Alton and can be seen off of Route 3. ( It is pronounced Pie Uh Saw, in case you’re wondering). The legend of the Piasa bird was that of a predatory bird that would swoop down and take an unsuspecting person for dinner, if I remember correctly.

Great comparison between Case & GEC , I’d take those 1975’s over GEC any day.

I'm just not sure in this video were I see a large disparity in quality between the two. It just sounded like the young man like the materials of the gec better than the case brand. Everyone has there opinion, and I respect that. I'm just not sure I see a huge gap in quality.
@carolinaknives2 ай бұрын
@@scottroberts4313 I wasn’t trying to bash any company in this video just showing the differences but if you have a case and a gec right next to each other with a blindfold on you will be able to tell straight away. Thanks for watching.

Loved seeing those older Cases - not seen those before, and more elegant to my eye than the current versions. I got a couple of those GEC #78 Bullet End Barlows (Marrow Bone and Cocobolo), and they are very fine indeed, but to me they're not Barlows. I got that Richlite #15 too - your Green Sawcut was my first choice but I couldn't land it. See if you can get your hands on a #77 Barlow - I reckon you'll find it's your perfect size.
