I think it is important to note that part of Anan's trouble stemmed from the fact that she did not tell her parents about the abuse she was suffering. One thinks she might have stayed in China with them... But I don't blame her for that, she knew her parents and it is not exactly rare that parents, yes, mothers especially, tell their daughters to suck it up, obey their husbands, and go back. Many consider it shameful to the beaten party to be thus treated, and it really is, but how to free oneself? I guess what I mean is that domestic violence thrives because besides husbands and boyfriends (or the occasional violent wife) a large part of society aide and abed.

My wife ever told my daughter to suck it up and go back, I'd leave her ass in a heart beat. If I as a father, did that... I'm sure my wife would leave me. Any parent who does that shouldn't be one. So sick of everyone making excuses or trying to explain shitty human behaviour. Glad my wife and I would NEVER minimise or excuse our daughter if she came to us needing help. I feel so sorry for the little girl, left at the station after losing her mum and being abandoned by her father. Hope shes does well since all this happened.

The Batavia is probably my favourite Casefile episode, I hope you do more historical ones in the future! The Raft of Medusa comes to mind, and the true story that Moby Dick was based on. Both fascinating tales of survival at sea (with high casualties too of course, and cannibalism). Oh and the Andes Plane Crash is another fascinating case! Anyway, looking forward to listening to this one, I'm not familiar with the case which always makes it even more enjoyable. :) (this comment is mostly just me rambling for the sake of the algorithm, more people need to know about this channel and apparently active comments make a video more likely to be seen!)

He does a lot of Australian Cases. They get so little acknowledgement. You hear all the time about famous cases from overseas or from families who are wealthy and have pull in the media etc. Casefile reminds us of all the cases no one knows about.

@@michellelammi787 Some of the cases they cover are extremely well known, for example The Silk Road (another brilliant one!),the Beaumont Children, Project Cathedral (that was so disturbing) Belanglo, oh and EARONS/Golden State Killer (that one is so good, and he was just in court a couple of weeks ago) while yes as you say others are much more obscure. That's what I love about Casefile, and that they cover cases more thoroughly than almost any other podcast while focussing on all different parts of the world and crimes against people of all different nationalities, including obscure ones that almost no one has heard of! The two I suggested (Raft of Medusa and the true story behind Moby Dick) are actually relatively obscure from what I'm aware, and are a lot like their Batavia case they covered (still my favourite one). What's your favourite Casefile Episode? :)

@@Vexarax I know some of the cases are well known. I just stated he does a lot of the lesser known ones and so thoroughly too. I don't know which is my favourite case. I've liked every case I've listened to.

I guess Xue found it "inconvenient" to help his elder daughter Grace when she asked for financial support. I feel, that he should have been charged with the abandonment of his younger daughter Qian. She wasn't the 1st daughter he had failed. That sentence, to be added, to his sentence for murdering her Mother.

Poor little darling. Abandoning a young child like that is unforgivable. It's heartbreaking hearing how she obediently stood still as she watched her father disappear. And such a sad story for her poor mother. That pig is exactly where he belongs. It makes me sick how criminals suddenly 'find God' in prison and allegedly become new shiny people. Too bad for them. God or no God, they have to pay for their wicked deeds here on Earth. Maybe they can redeem themselves in the next life. I'm so glad little "Pumpkin" was ok.
