If you got that kind of sound quality from that flimsy vinyl that was in that magazine over 30 years ago, you are to be truly commended. Fantastic!

I still have my 'sound-sheet' record of the original "It's A Gas" from before it went disco, from back around 1968!

I remember having this record back in 1980. The floppy pullout from the magazine. I lost it a long time ago. Haven't heard this in almost 30 years. Thanks for the memories!

Dr. Demento hipped me to the original version of this in the '70s, but it wasn't 'til I read the Wikipedia article about MAD that I knew to come looking for the disco version... Thanks for posting this! And STAY DEMENTED!

Alfred E, Neuman could be played by Ted Koppel. They look so much alike.

Not bad, but I think the original version of “It’s a Gas” is far superior to the disco version.

Well done with the tongue sync! Thought I was hallucinating at first. MAD

It was a parody of the movie 'Saturday Night Fever' (1977). Those who were here then, and old enough to remember, would I'm sure remember how very popular that movie was then.

The record I saw in the Mad magazine looked like a 7 single, or 45, was square, flexible plastic, orange, speed 33, and three songs per side.The other songs respectively were: 'Disco Suicide'; 'Sorry, no words'; 'This time, this night'; 'Barely Alive'; and 'The Disco Clap'. This song last.

A woman said it would be a good song if it wasn't for the burping.
@GoodVideos47 жыл бұрын
Actually, I can remember a version of this song without the burping - but from where, name and artist name, got no idea.
@Steinbach19844 жыл бұрын
@@GoodVideos4 The music is just some standard disco mannerisms over the chords of the original (rock 'n roll) version. So you're likely to have heard this before - in just any other disco song.

Casey, was there a flip side? Any idea who the backing band was? The 1963 version is also a novelty favorite. Hey, have you heard My Baby Likes Burping by Weird Al Yankovic? That's a parody of My Baby Talks Dirty by the Knack. His other Knack parody, My Bologna.
@caseyk1610 жыл бұрын
Darrin, there was a flip side. There were six songs on this record with three on each side. I couldn't find any info on who the band was, but the music was written, produced and arranged was produced by Norman Blagman w/vocals by Steve Leeds and Angela, Karl and Phyliss Harriss.I have heard both of Weird Al's Knack parodies and they're both quite well done for such an early period in his career.
