You should set up a GoPro on a tri pod and record a time lapse as you go. Record some interesting rod bits as you see fit and move it once an hour. Doesn’t get around the editing problem, but it lets you record alone, cover massive ground, and not do a lot of filming
@aserta4 жыл бұрын
Time lapses get around the editing problem just fine. I for one, if it's not that big of a hassle for him to get one, would be perfectly ok with Casey chucking a gopro on the bench in front of the supercar and just let'er rip.

Recently discovered your channel. Love all the practical engineering you're teaching the young folks. Have been binge watching through your King Zero build. I think this structural build out is very well thought out and done. One minor thing I did notice was the front braces that run from the center out to the front ends of the frame rails. I see it makes sense to do them that way to tie into and strengthen the front end of the frame rails, but they also could channel the car into a vertical object that might be hit roughly front-on (through no fault of the driver of course). If they went the other way, from the wheel well areas in to the front center they would tend to deflect the car away from such an object rather than into it. Probably not worth cutting them out and redoing them, given you've got a lot of strength in the front tubing, but you could add in "X" braces to get roughly the same effect. Keep up the good work.

Something that could help the forward impact would be to use a rohacell foam in the space between the sheet metal nose and the steel tube frame. The foam has been used on aircraft belly skids for load alleviation during a gear up landing. We did some crash dynamic analysis for gear up landing protection of fuel tanks. Basically, something crushable that lets the deceleration occur over a longer distance really helps reduce the loads. Just a thought.

It's really great to see and kind of makes me sad I don't have something similar to genius garage in my neck of the woods. On another hand, I've also been watching this project called Project Binky by Bad Obsession Motorsport, a UK racecar building duo. It's a personal project for them, putting a Celina GT4 engine, turbo, and AWD system into a Mini Cooper, and there are so many running gags about them making it harder on themselves and taking way more time than necessary just to satisfy their desire for quality. It's an interesting contrast to the sort of hectic "if it works it works" of this build and I can honestly say I enjoy both.

It would not take a lot of a shunt to stop the screen opening and with lower leg injuries getting out of the sides may be impossible. I can almost hear the line forming of people ready to say they told you so. Believe your dream!

I've actually used them in the past for a load bearing type door that a client wanted to have open parallel to the facade (rather than pivot). And it's been 5 years now, and there's only 6 cheapo Ford brand rod-ends that hold about 48~50 kg of door.
