Jackie, the reason why you could not get access to the app was because your phone model doesn't have the aspects to use it. My phone is a sightly older Samsung model, about 1 year, and I can't access certain game apps that my friends with newer phones have. It really sucks that that company did not just put those two kinds of sets together or update one app.

Just FYI, I live in Japan and just downloaded the app from the Japanese app store and it has the monsters and all the kits that are sold in Japan. Might be a problem with the US app. In the video instruction it shows that you dry the tail lying on its the side first and then attach the rest. I guess that way it'll work.

I feel like the reason it didn’t work as well is bc alot of badges are made with a plastic film on top of the paper design - it won’t adhere without it - coming from a con-seller who sells badges themself

This was my experience with making buttons/badges/pins as well. I remember having a similar toy kit to what Jackie has as a kid and they all had that plastic film. The one time when my cousin and I did not put the film, the paper got stuck in the machine...

I had a machine called a "badge it" as a kid (I think it's german? ) and it was the same thing, they come out really wonky unless you put the plastic on.

Buttons!!!! Ahhhh my quarantine obsession. I bought a heavy duty maker for making a 1000 buttons, then I discovered my printer isn't great soooo that's as far as I got making some other than using vintage magazine images as testers.

I have a 1 inch button maker and HOLYCARP. I'm actually pretty impressed with that Japanese button making kit! Mine is pretty heavy, so it's really cool to see that this makes actual nice buttons. I'm such a huge sucker for pins (instead of buttons), and unshamefully admit I have a heap of Disney pins

I don't know if at this point I expect so much from Japanese kits that I'm being unreasonable, but for the button press kit I would have expected some clear plastic cover to be included alongside the holographic ones, to make all the button pins last longer, especially if they come out better with an ulterior layer on top

Kind of weird, but Hey Clay Animals was partnered with a grocery store promotion this fall in Western Canada (you can see the logo in the corner of her app). Buy some groceries and they give you a pack of clay for every set amount of dollars spent. I work there so I got a bunch of clay at the end of the promotional period, great quality but weird considering adults do grocery shopping but it was clearly geared for young kids to play with.

I had a button maker called Badge-A-Minit. I enjoyed it a lot, even sold buttons I had premade, at events. It made the standard sized button, but they also have two other size options, and you could get hundreds of designs from them, or print your own. Some entrepreneurs use this machine to make commemorative buttons at events, such as school dances and birthday parties. The only issue I ever had was making certain to place the image and clear sheet as centered as possible, to get them tucked in all the way around (like the issue Jackie had on the first button). It just took practice (and making sure any images I cut myself were the right size :) ). Button making is fun!

I customized my own pins when I was a kid. I was inspired by The World Ends With You. I pulled open already made ones, replaced the art, and shoved everything back together without the proper tools. It turned out mostly ok.

I didn't know about these bags! I think I need one. As a kid I had a "lucky hat" that was just what I stored buttons and pins on but never actually wore. Now I have a hanging banner to store them cause I started going crazy with the enamel pins. A bag that displays them while protecting them from wear and falling off is so perfect! I have never tried making buttons but I do have a custom made one I got at a convention with custom artwork of me as a zombie and it's awesome! (one of those pro pin makers)

Many many moons ago when I was a camp counselor in training, I found a button maker in the mail room while sorting mail for the day. It looked more like a leather making tool, but did the same thing that your cute little Kirby did. I had a blast making buttons and found anything and everything I could to make a button out of. It was one of my favorite days at camp counselor training.

(I make my own customs ones) If you were more inclined for sewing I would be curious how you would take a customization on a pre-existing model or regular bag. The clubs I was involved with in high school. Used these mega big 100$+ buttons press mechines. It takes a couple try’s to figure it out, especially when printing the your design to the right size. But once you get the hang of it you can make a ton easy.

Forever ago I used one of those $100+ ones you mentioned at a job I worked. The crumping and messy edges happen when the pressure was uneven. Coworkers and I got those bad results like 1/5 the time, then pry them apart to reuse the base. It took a LOT to press down on the handle. Sometimes the plastic wouldn’t attach. A big hassle. And you had to buy different dies to make different sizes.

I had a kid button maker back in the 80s. I loved it and wish my parents would have bought me refills for it. It only came with ~10 button backs/supplies and I could have made hundreds of was so much fun!

Hi Jackie. I'm a con artist (not that kind. A convention artist. Get it?) and I make buttons for conventions and my online shop so I was really interested in this video. I bought my current machine a few years ago for over $200 and it's very finicky. So I'm very impressed by these $30 machines. Most likely the first ones had rough edges is because you didn't use mylar (the plastic sheets you put on the buttons). While my machine still gives clean edges if you forget to put mylar, it does look better with it. It helps seal the button and protects it. So it's very necessary. I will definitely buy this and the heart machine because even with the cost of shipping, it'll cost less than my current machine and I would like to have more variety in sizes and shapes. Not to mention it's more portable than my current machine. For refills, I get mine from American Button Machine and you should easily get 100 refills for the same price as the Japanese vendor. Just be sure to contact customer service ahead of time to ask for a size sheet to make sure you order the right size as different machines use different size materials.

When I heard that the last kit was from Georgia, I screamed bc that’s where I live. I haven’t tried any kits manufactured in GA before so I didn’t know how bad it was until you tried it. Btw if you’re wondering @NerdECrafter (since you like to know where people are from and you like traveling), if you ever come to GA, note that it’ll be wayyyy different than Canada. The heat in the summer is not nice sometimes so be ready flr that. Sorry that clay kit disappointed you, hopefully the other ones are better lol

I have the same itabag as the deer one, but the owl model. Just wanted to share that while this bag is perfect for pins, it doesn't handle well buttons like the ones Jackie is mentioning in the video. The panel is too thick for the needle pin to easily go through it twice and still have space to then clip the button so it doesn't slip off. It ends up contracting the panel, which is not that pretty. Although maybe if you just slide the button without clipping it it might work. I haven't tried that. It was a bit of a bummer for me, but it's still a very pretty and cute bag!

This pin maker looks really easy to use? I've wanted to get into pin making but most pin makers require... A lot of strength that I don't have. This looks so much more intuitive and I actually really like the pin backings even more as I find regular pin backings are unable to be replaced if they get damaged and safety pins are usually way more durable! I may have to get this kit!

I have a Badge it machine, which works pretty similar. It is great quality for beeing a toy, I bought it for card making, but my children enjoyed it too.
