I had gold hospital and top extras and was paying $250 / fortnight and I just couldn't afford it any more, plus if I had a procedure at a private hospital, the specialist would also put a massive gap on-top, even for day surgery, I simply can't afford it. So now I have cancelled my hospital cover and only kept my top extras cover. I wear glasses, hearing aids and the dentist is fully covered for like my 6 monthly check up, clean and fluoride treatment. I am with HCF, I now pay $38 / fortnight now just for extras, oh and I am 44 years young😉

That’s exactly the issue isn’t it, that even with private cover you then get charged over and above the scheduled fee (by a lot in a lot of circumstances)! Sounds like HCF is a good option, I will check them out. Thank you for sharing, I so appreciate it!

We have Bupa Extras. It covers our Dental, Optical, Physio and Chiropractic. You can choose any 4 areas that you need from a list.

We are with Bupa for hospital, i cancelled out extras a few years ago but I do often think about getting it back

I don't have any private health insurance, we pretty lucky with none of us having any issues so we don't need medications, specialist, or hospital visits offen.. so we're pretty lucky however life changes and never know in the future if things change

Us healthcare is absolutely horrible so I understand the frustration with paying all of this money for things to not be covered 😐

I’m with HCF and I pay $104 a fortnight and I am covered for a lot honestly my medication neurologist dental pregnancy and birth ambulance cover as well as hospitals and it also covers my glasses to so for me it’s been a huge help honestly but it does cost so much money too

That’s good if you get the value out of it though. I dropped out extras a few years ago as I worked out it cost me more than we got back 2 years in a row. But I feel so scared to drop hospital cover

@@budgiebudgets yeah with me personally if I didnt have the cover it did mine would be the opposite and I don’t recommend dropping hospital cover until the new Medicare rebate overview happens as I’ve heard they may be cutting out even more cover again
