You are very blessed your employer allows you to take a day off scheduled with out using PTO … it was never allowed at my job and if you asked for a day off prior and then called in sick your written up … hospital setting in California … I used to have to deny requests all the time cause they had no PTO

Open a separate savings account just for those saving funds with placeholders and then start an excel spreadsheet to track the expenses and balances for each of them.

I would create a expense tracker for the go wild that way you can track what you have spent as well, since you have the tracker that you color in for what you have saved. In terms of the placeholders and keeping track of what you have spent vs what you still have in the bank, maybe create a different place holder or use other type of fake money (ex. from a board game like monopoly) to show how much you have in the bank. Say you have $658 in the bank, do a $500 placeholder, then $158 in the fake money to show the total.
