Cashless budgeting!! What are your thoughts on it?!
@AlliNW0nderland.3 жыл бұрын
I’ve always done the cashless method because for me if I have cash I’m going to spend it more often than I will swipe a card... I chart my categories in a bullet journal that always stays with me. It works best for me.

I think if you are having trouble with overspending, cash envelopes can be a great way to train your brain & optimize your budget... but once you've built up your "spending discipline muscles", you shouldn't be afraid to transition to cashless. Good luck!

I use my main current account (a checking account in the US I think) linked to my debit card as my daily working account and keep everything else in my savings account, which is also where my wages go to. I just transfer what I need to my current/checking account when appropriate, and if I need to save for any reason I just open another account specifically for that purpose. Actually find it easier to track my spending online rather than writing out a budget.

I recently went cashless as well for my sinking funds and cash envelopes due to covid and its not that bad, i use a micro happy planner to track all my spending and check my bank account daily just to make sure my numbers r right. 😊

I've only ever done a cash free budget. It just makes most sense for me. I live so far away from everything, it's not worth it to me to drive so far out of my way to go to the bank multiple times per week. I make a run to the bank every Friday the week I get paid to withdraw only the cash I use to stuff my wallet with, which is what I allow myself to spend for the next two weeks. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way than this! :)

I’ve had my sinking funds as “cashless” from the beginning because I don’t trust myself around cash- lol. I have all sinking funds in savings and my “cash envelope” categories in my checking account. I like you lil trackers. Thanks for the video. Loved it!!(had to come back and edit my comment- I just purchased your tracker !! Sooooo easy and super fast. Thank youuuu :-). )

My system is cashless but is a little different than most people's systems. I put everything possible on debit or credit cards. I get cashback this way. I was able to get one month ahead on bills so this month's income will be paying May's bills. I still have a budget for various categories that I keep track of with a spreadsheet and a budget planner but you could also track it by an envelope. It is a zero-based budget so at the end of the month any extra goes to savings or debt (I will pay off the student loans this month and will only have mortgage debt then). If you use sinking funds you could fund them then also at that time. I don't have them I just lump my savings altogether.

I did switch to cash-less except for Christmas. I only have to go to the bank once a month that way. We are retired so we don't have weekly budgets to worry about. I do miss the cash envelopes but I will return to them things are normal again.

You all know that the world health organization has said that it’s highly unlikely you’ll catch covid from cash, right? Everyone panicking about it is nuts. I’ve always done cash and will continue to do so.

Well.. not panicking, just being cautious. Cash has always been nasty anyways. So figured I’d use this time to switch.
@maureenp70824 жыл бұрын
However, cash is very dirty anyway....e coli etc. Why not be careful. They do not know ENOUGH about Covid to know if you can catch it from money.

I transfer money online to pay bills and such, and use cash for variable expenses. Cause even though cashless method is so convenient, I like to use cash to literally remind me of the amount that I set for my budget. So that I'm more aware and appreciative towards my own hard earned money.

I don’t use cash envelopes. I just keep track on paper. The only cash I have is me and my husbands allowance which is kept in a cup in the kitchen which is used to replenish our wallet from time to time. I think the way you’re starting to do this makes more sense and less work for you. I think you’ll like it much better.

That’s what we had been doing for so long. I am being exposed to cash all day long and customers. I just feel safer to handle less cash at the moment. That’s why we switched.

I prefer the cash method.. I just stared and I have saved money versus other way, don’t get me wrong I have my important things get auto withdrawals from bank but the other stuff is easier for me... plus I feel that they (government)will be able to control even more of your hard earned income because they will prob ask for records of bank statements, see what you spend your money show proof of why you spent it etc.. shoo you never know these days.. lol
