Me too! I love it when a new video popps up on my notifications. I save them all for Saturday morning though, so I can sit and have a coffee, while watching. Like this Saturday, there’s 4 new videos to take in. It’s great, like a Netflix drop, but it’s actually something good, unlike a ‘made for Netflix’ series.

I loved this video and the others in the series..and well, all the other videos too. So many good things to say about them. You are a great teacher, you speak slowly, clearly and are to the point, you don't have hideous music playing throughout and the information delivered is just great. The only wish I have is that the videos be named so that it is easier to get to the next in a series. For instance...#1 Wainscoting, #2 Wainscoting etc. It's much easier to find what you are looking for when the title says it all. Thanks so much for what you do. I recommend your videos to any friend doing their own renovations.

I nearly lost my eye cutting wedges from old trim, it happened exactly how you said, i didn't see the nail in the timber because the nail hold was filled, the only thing that saved me was i was squinting, the nail shot out at hit me right in the middle of my eye and actually stuck to my eyelid. You'll never see me cut ANYTHING without safety glasses again.

@@victor-manuel-pr luckily it didn't do any damage to my eye, just burnt my eyelid with the heat of the nail and lost a few eyelashes that haven't grew back, but it could of been a lot worse. I'd joke about when people told me off for not wearing, saying don't worry I've got my safety squint on, not anymore, it's not worth it.

One newbie thing I learned a long time ago is always remember the size of the kerf and which side of a line to cut to avoid losing the 1/8" in size in the final piece. It's worse with sheet goods where you expected to use the full 4 or 8 feet (sometimes the vendor adds an inch to the final product to account for it on a few cuts) while it's something learned early it still can slip the mind when doing a lot of different things.

I also pre fabed my window trims with the stool. Only I placed shims, ( stacked pieces of 1/8 ply) in between the wall framing and the window frame. That way the revel is equal all the way around the window. In other words the backside of the window jamb is the exact same as the window frame, if that makes sense.

I jammed a cased a set of six windows 1’-6”x 2’-6” they where six separate windows in a row. My boss at the time told me to build it in 2 pieces seeing how It was about a 10’ span. I decided to build it in one big window jamb. Notched all my returns and dog ears, put all my six window jambs to my bottom seal, glued and screwed my legs and header and that shit slid in like you know what. 1/4” reviles 👌🏽My boss was impressed needless to say. I wish I still had a picture of it. That was a few years ago. Now I own my own remodel company. Still waiting to get another window jamb like that. Fun shit. Good work my friend, keep it up. When you mentioned the cavity that will exist behind the jamb due to the sheetrock being angled back in the opening, I wondered if there could be an opportunity for condensation behind the jamb, and would that cause the mdf to puff? How would you address that in an older home that doesn't have the best moisture/air infiltration barrier system.

Since I am currently renovating a 1930's house with weighted windows I wonder with the casing being combined, if you ever need to work on or replace a window, is there a strategy to the potential problem or would you just RIP out the casing and rebuild if / when you have an issue? Or is there still enough clearance if you were to ever have to do a replacement? This series is amazing, it is perfectly timed since I'm working on both jams and wainscot planning. I'm looking for the link to your membership
