I believe I built the world's first 12-string Strat back in 1970. My bandmate had a Fender Villager 12 string acoustic that was destroyed in luggage when he went to England a few years earlier. He also had a Strat. I looked at both and discovered the bolt holes for the Villager neck, which survived the destruction, were identical to the Strat's. I bolted the 12 neck onto the Strat, did some cuts in the nut and the bridge for the extra strings, and the damn thing worked and sounded awesome. He and I were in a band and he used that Strat for years. Sadly he passed about 10 years ago and I've no idea what happened to it as we were out of touch for 40 years or so.

I have a Vintera 60's Jazzmaster, and I love it. It has the classic 7.25 radius on the neck and I found that I really like it. I don't even see why they call them Jazzmasters if they don't have the rhythm circuit, that is where the "Jazz" lives.

Got the J Mascis fairly soon after they were released. Great guitar although it is pretty heavy. One thing you didn’t mention - on that guitar (and on one or two other variants) is that the tremolo has been moved closer to the bridge, which I find make it easier to bend strings. Also the bridge itself is a tuneomatic style and the pickups are more like P90s. Actually quite a lot different, but playability is arguably improved!

Hey that's interesting to hear. I've also owned the J Mascis before and I didn't find it heavy at all. And I'm someone that doesn't like heavy guitars.

I have the American Professional II in dark night. Love it. Great satin neck, modern switching options like the coil tap and series -parallel. The documented problem with the vibrato is not an issue for me since I use lighter strings. V-Mod II pickups may be switched out down the road by preference but you get great tones right off the bat with it. These used to be hard to find during covid. Fender upped the price since the launch (was $1599)

The guitar at the time was priced at $2399 and went up ever since. 📈 I had to tweak my Jazzmaster (new pick-ups, Mastery bridge and vintage style lock-in tuners) and it sounds even better as a result.

I have a 2018 Candy Apple Red Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster. It has a laurel fingerboard; someday I'll darken it. It's a fun guitar to play, and I generally want to play something with spring reverb and tons of tremolo. It didn't have a bag, but around 2020 I found a used SKB molded Jazz/Jag case for about 1/3 of the retail price of a new one. If the pickups were replaced, it would be with a set of Pure Vintage '65 Jazzmaster Pickups. Perhaps someday (it better be soon, I'm gettin' on) I'll have a USA Jazz or at least an MIM.

Before I get another solidbody, I should really get an acoustic guitar ( I have a 12 string and classical, but not a 6 string.) BUT, if I were to get another solidbody, it would likely be a Jazzmaster I have considered a Squier electric 12 string. But what I would want, whether Fender or Squier would be the traditional Jazzmaster pickups, the rhythm circuit, and all the controls, with the Jazzmaster trem They are comfortable to play, and sound different than what I have. 13:07 I would pick a Jazzmaster over a Jaguar, because I have a Mustang, so the shortscale is covered for me. Although I had a dream I got a Jaguar the other night.

Offsets? What do you mean by offsets? What's a rhythm circuit and why do I need one? I might want a Jazzmaster because they look cool-educate me on the other stuff.
@jasonbeebe21286 ай бұрын
It means the dips that make the waist are not straight across from each other like in a traditional Spanish guitar and the early electrified versions of them. The rhythm circuit switches over to a second set of volume and tone controls and to the neck pickup only. You need one if you need to do that, or if you want it to be cool like the originals. The other stuff: the string segments behind the bridge resonate in a strange way, the pickups are super bright and have good bass too, it's a lot of people's favorite trem system. It has odd mods and upgrades that have become like aftermarket standard mods for tinkerers to have fun with. It has issues and people like to fix (or deal with) them in their own way.

Wow, that's a wonderful explanation. Thank you!

My latest and final electric was a new lefty JM AMpro2. Big fan of Elvis Costello. The amount of grief I have had with that guitar is more than any other. The switch needed resoldering so all the strings had to come off, the action was hideous so I had to fiddle with the truss rod and the bridge (not the most obvious way to adjust), the tension to hold the bar way non existent so the vibrato came off for that, and then the neck was not tightened to the body so the neck would move. I’ve barely had a problem with Gibsons and Gretsches, but Fenders have really disappointed me with QC. My Tele has also had several problems.

@@whodunitpros8555The Ultra is the one I'm most interested in, but it has some of the off putting specs. I want a proper rhythm circuit, proper single coils, and I've seen videos that the bridge isn't the proper radius for the fretboard (it's 7.25 and not 10 or a 14" for the compound radius).
