Two days ago I was choosing between Casio cdp s100 and Yamaha p45 in a shop. Honestly, I went to the shop for buying s100. It is slim, looks nice, sounds better than previous models. Textured surface on the keys is so pleasant that I fell in love with it. I almost bought it, but while playing a little on p45 there I noticed that keys on the s100 clatter louder and have bigger side swing. The keyboard on Yamaha is quieter, softer and looks as it is of better quality. So I bought a p45.

Less than an hour ago I was looking at the very same pianos. I like the feel of the S100 better but there is a used P45 that is $100 cheaper at the store. What should I do?
@mcsoupy5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've heard it's a close call between those two. Here in Mexico City the P45 appears to be $150 more for some reason. And on all the comparison videos, I liked the sound of the S100. I hope that key movement thing isn't a big issue, I'm just a beginner...
@juanpablorodriguezmartinez78145 жыл бұрын

With the Yamaha if you are learning serious classical music, it makes you feel like you are in a grand piano. On the Casio, playing the same song I felt like I was playing on a keyboard just for fun. Yamaha inspirational feel. Try them, close your eyes while playing. Find out what you want.

I find that it is too soft in the default settings (Grand Piano Standard, normal touch sensitivity) even with the volume knob cranked to the right. I want it to be louder, but still have the touch sensitivity so I can play soft / loud as I need to. The problem is when I hit the keys, even if I hit them quite hard (which I feel like I shouldn't be doing, if I want this digital piano to last longer), the sound is still too soft. It doesn't have the same volume as what is being played on the demo songs. What should I do? I even tried layering the Grand Piano Standard twice (or with GP Bright) but that sounds weird because it's two of the same note being played at the same time. The only way to get the max volume is to set touch sensitivity to 0 (first beep setting), whereupon you lose the touch sensitivity.

For me the deal breaker is whether it has a dedicated and separate lineout that does not shut off the piano monitors. I bought the cdp230R which does not have it. It makes public performance very awkward. Try playing if you cannot hear properly what you are playing. It has a one line shared output which shuts off the monitors and prevents headphone monitoring. It's a pain. Some manufactures have woken up to this issue but most beginners are unaware that the issue exists untill is encountered and by that time you have to start looking for a "solution" (a new piano) clever marketing ploy?

@claytonroot8066 жыл бұрын
Even though Tony did everything he could to get the best out of it, based on the paltry sound of this thing, I'd have to say NO. The new Casio CT-X5000 is a remarkable instrument with its AiX Sound Engine. To my ear, this CDP-S100 sounds like the cheap Casio keyboards of yore and it is surprising they would release such a device just when they were on the upswing and gaining respect with quality instruments such as the GP500 piano and their new CT-X Series of keyboards. Too bad, so sad! However, what can one expect from an 88 note keyboard costing less than 500 Pounds. Tony's job is to sell instruments, regardless of whether he enjoys playing it or not. The best feature of this thing is obviously the Audio In jack which can at least playback "quality sounding instruments".
