There are a lot of different ways you can do this dependent on mean and standard deviations. If you want to match the figures given in the table you can do as such. Select Normal CD (Cumulative Distribution). Set a lower limit of - 4, which will be 4 standard deviations, the minimum I recommend. An Upper limit of your value in this case 1.2 and a standard deviation of 1 and a mean of 0, thus N-(0,1). This gives you a P of 0.8848986585. This matches the figure of 0.8849 given in the formula book. I hope to do more videos in the future about this... but probably not before your Stats this year, so hope this helps.

I always recommended the Classwiz fx-991EX. It must have a distribution mode for a level mathematics. I believe the 991ES does and should be adequate all the way through. It should have a SOLVE feature available.

Good question. I have not got the TI-36X Pro yet so I couldn't comment really. Some have said that they like the fact that you can switch the TI off and then back on and pick up where you started from in terms of your calculations. I would recommend the Classwiz though.

I need some advice please. I have a very old casio fx570 which allows me to input values in micro, pico, nano etc for my electronics calculations. I know on any normal calculator I can put in say :5 exp -6 to get the value 0.000005, but my old casio allows me to input 5 shift 4 and hey presto 5u appears on the screen....Yes Im lazy , but when you are quickly trying to trouble shoot a circuit problem it makes a difference. I need to replace it as some of the display is now going down and I was hoping you could advice me of a current model that will give me this functionality.

How can I find probability of a Random Variable having a Standard Normal Distribution. The standard method is to calculate the area under the PDF curve from negative infinity to any number x. But with the 570EX The two options that I see are Normal PD which I suppose gives only the density at one point while the Normal CD does give you the probability but only after giving a lower limit whereas standard normal distribution tables give probability from negative infinity to any desired number by default.

+butt bhutti I think it might be a limitation of the calculator. You need to put a lower limit in. I suggest at least 4 standard deviations, perhaps more. The difference between the result and the tables should be negligible (ie smaller than the accuracy levels given in the table.)

Sorry it might be counterfeit. There are a lot now that look very similar and even have the same code fx-991EX on it. I'd only make sure you get one with CASIO written on it from a seller you trust.

+Magic Man It's a tricky one. I take it you are using the solver in Calc mode. I believe it gives you the negative root as this is the first solution the calculator encounters. There's sort of a way around it. You need to use the Abs button before you input the x, as the absolute value of the negative root will not work. It should look like this: 4249² = ( |x| -344.284)² + 529.02². When you press shift, solve, this will calculate -4560, due to the way the calculator solves it, but as you know you are looking for the absolute value, you know this should be positive. Not the news you probably wanted, but it should give you the value of the solution. I'll keep looking out for a better way.

Hello sir, i have a problem with this calculator. it cannot shift solve another variable except for X.. while the lower version fx-991ES plus can shift solve another variable.. for example i input the function 2x+2C=2y^2,C (comma C to shift solve for C) then it will ask the value for X and Y then will solve for C. but the 991EX classwiz cant do that. have you encountered this? thanks for answering

Input your equation 2x+2C=2y² , but do not include the comma C bit. Press SHIFT and then SOLVE you should be prompted for your x value, input this and press equals. It should then move on to C as this is the next letter reading left to right. Don't input anything, but use the down key to navigate to y=. Input your value for y and press = once. then press up to go back to C and press = and this should solve for C. I will do a video on this soon as I suspect your not the only one having trouble with this.

+The Calculator Guide Isn't it already widely available? What I would like to see though is a comparison between all the versions of the 991EX. The German version has more functions available for example, downside is that it is in German. There seem to be different versions for different Countries depending on the regulations during exams but that is of no interest if you use it professionally.

+Remco Meeder There is not a specific UK version yet, for exactly the reasons you described (exam regulation and specifications.) I completely agree though, you can get the international version via various sites such as ebay. The comment is really for students who might be interested in using the calculator for the new forthcoming exams in England and Wales. I too would also like to see a comparison, but we may have to wait for a few more versions to be released.

D will be presented as the angle unit. There will ALWAYS be either a D R or G. The other symbol indicates you have MathO or Math Output giving standard or exact answers in the first instance rather than decimals.

+FishGun I believe so yes. It cannot complete symbolic algebra or calculus or independently connect to the Internet. There will not be the official word though until the UK model is released.

The Calculator Guide Hopefully it's fully legal because it seems to be such a high quality product. It's weird how long it's taking for the UK version to come out considering it's already been out in other countries for a while. You have to make sure there is plenty of light. Also there are two different types of code the calculator can produce. If you go to SHIFT and SETUP scroll down to QR code you can switch between the types

+fox story by arslana bid Good Question. I think some models have the LCM feature and some don't. I think the 991EX doesn't. Some models have this function if you press alpha and then the divide sign. If you don't have anything in red writing above the divide sign then your model cannot find LCM.

+Asyam Mulayyan Dary Depends what you are currently studying. If you are studying A level or equivalent, it is , in my opinion, worth upgrading to the 991EX. I wouldn't suggest it was worth buying the 82EX if you already have the 82es
