Hi Chandler, there is a useful function you might want to mention when you are discussing the arpeggiator of the CT-X line, it is the Arpeggio Hold function (function 18 “ArpegHld”on the CT-X800). Go to the Function menu by pressing the Function button, use the Right Arrow on the numeric keypad until you reach function 14 “AHar/Arp”, press Enter on the numeric keypad to enter the sub-menu devoted to the auto-harmoniser and the arpeggiator, use again the right arrow button until you reach function 18 “ArpegHld”, use the + sign on the numeric keypad to toggle the function to “On”, press Exit to exit the function menu. Now when you press a chord and the arpeggiator is activated, the chosen arpeggio will play until you set the function “ArpegHld” to Off again. This gives the player some flexibility to use other functions of the keyboard and to transition more smoothly between chords. The only drawback is that once you have quit the Function menu, it is complicated to reach the “ArpegHld” Function again to toggle it off. A workaround is to memorise the “ArpegHld” toggled to On in one Registration slot, and with the same function toggled to Off in the next Registration slot. That way, it is very easy to toggle instantly between On and Off modes. Hope this trick might be useful for some CT-X users. N.B.: on the CT-X3000/5000, of course the procedure will be the same, but the function numbers will be different. Go look in your manual for more details.

So far, the only precount setting I've found is in a phrase pad configuration menu. One idea (to work out) from this video is to make a precount metronome and save it to registratioh button (I don't know if this will work). Other than that, get the tempo cue from the ACCMP intro.

Help! Anyone know how to apply the arpeggiator function to Part 3 (the keyboard SPLIT on the lower half voice) instead of Part 1 (main voice, upper half when split.) I'm using a CTK-7200, which looks similarly designed, but I can't figure out how, or even if it's possible. I'll keep looking in the meantime. I watched one guy's series of videos on my particular model series for over ten hours, only to find that he only mentioned it in passing. Jeez. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!!!

@chandlerholloway7876
@chandlerholloway7876 6 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. You can only select one Effect type for each Effects Block (1 type of Reverb, 1 type of Chorus, 1 type of Delay) at any given time. Using the mixer section, you can adjust the amount each individual voice on the keyboard (the four layers, phrase pad playback voices, rhythm voices, song playback voices, and any voices played back via MIDI IN can all be configured separately) is affected by the Reverb, Chorus, and Delay effects you selected, but you're still limited to the one type of each for all the voices. Even so, the ability to fine tune the effects sends for every voice individually does allow for a fair amount of precise voice editing. You can also achieve a slight workaround by programming your own custom tones into the keyboard using the onboard tone editor. If you're skilled enough with sound design and take the time to familiarize yourself with the CT-X series' custom tone creation, you can create new voices that sort of simulate the way one of the standard voices might sound if you applied an effect to it. Once you save this new "pseudo-affected" voice, you can then run it through the usual Effects section for even more tone customization, or you can leave the custom tone "dry" by setting all of its Reverb/Chorus/Delay send values to zero and using the effects on the other voices for more variety. Mike Martin did a more advanced tutorial on the CT-X series' Facebook User group, you should definitely check it out and join the group if you want to learn more about these keyboards! Hope this helps! facebook.com/CasioMusicGear/videos/10160739793260541/

can we edit the amount or value of portamento in ctx5000 or in ctk 9000in and can we save its value in registration setup
@chandlerholloway7876
@chandlerholloway7876 6 жыл бұрын
For both the CT-X3000 and X5000, you can change Portamento time for each of the 4 layers individually using the Portamento section of the Controller Submenu within the Functions list. Functions -> scroll right to controller -> Enter -> scroll right to "Portamnt" -> Enter. Once you've dialed in the values you want for each layer, you can save these settings to a User Registration for quick recall. Now, whenever you press the Portamento button on the right side of the keyboard's front panel, the "Portamento" icon will light up on the display and whatever values you set for each layer's port time will be applied. If you only want certain layers to have Portamento and other layers to stay unchanged, simply input a Port time of 0 for any layer you want to function normally and it shouldn't be affected when you toggle Portamento on with the button. You can also change portamento parameters externally via MIDI CC messages - see the MIDI Implementation chart in the manual for more specifics. Hope this helps!

Which is better wk7600 or ctx 700 or 8000
@chandlerholloway7876
@chandlerholloway7876 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you're using the keyboard for. The WK-7600 is a full-blown workstation keyboard, so it's going to have more features in terms of sequencing and arranging tracks when compared to the CT-X700, which is definitely aimed more towards amateur users. The WK-7600 has a full 17-track MIDI sequencer for song creation, as well as more controls on the front panel to help with building tracks and editing sounds (like organ drawbars, a selection wheel, and a lot more dedicated buttons for important functions). The back panel offers 1/4" mono L/R outputs in addition to the headphones jack, as well as a Mic Input (mono, with gain knob), Instrument Input (mono, made for line level signals like guitars), and External Input (stereo 1/8" jack, meant for Smartphones or other MP3 players but can accept any line level stereo input) to help you connect all your gear up (and even run them through the onboard effects in the case of the Mic input) It can also save audio files directly to SD card and mix them down with other audio tracks to create full songs, which is great if you're creating a lot of demos on the fly and prefer not to use your computer for recording. The CT-X700 offers less in terms of professional features, but also has the new AiX sound source under the hood so the tones you'll find on the X700 will sound better than their counterparts on the WK-7600 while still being significantly less expensive. However, you have less options available to you in terms of actually modifying the sounds and creating new tones; the X700 does not have a mixer section that allows you to adjust balance between split and layered tones, and doesn't allow you to create custom tones like the WK-7600. The X700 has a Song Recorder, but it isn't as versatile as the full 17-track MIDI recorder on the WK-7600 and you can't export created songs directly to a finished audio file like with the WK-7600's SD card features; you'll have to compose the song on the X700 and then record the output of the keyboard separately if you want to share it as an audio file. In terms of connectivity on the back panel, there's not much; you get a single stereo 1/4" output jack for headphones/audio out, a jack for a sustain pedal, a stereo 1/8" Audio In jack (similar to the ones on the WK-7600, but you can't run the input through the onboard effects and there are no gain knobs to separately adjust the input level, although you can still change the volume of the sound source itself if it's too loud/quiet) and the USB "To Host" port used for USB-MIDI control and data transfer. The CT-X8000 is a regional variant of the CT-X3000 we have here in America, and the CT-X9000 is a regional variant of the CT-X5000; they have all the same features as their American equivalents, but different onboard sounds because they're sold in other countries. These CT-X boards all use the same AiX sound source, so you can expect the same awesome tone quality, but the X3000/X8000 has more of the advanced controls you'll see on the WK-7600 when compared to the lower-end X700. There are more front panel buttons for dedicated control, and there's a mixer section that lets you individually adjust volume, panning, and effects send values for each voice in the keyboard, giving you way more flexibility with those nice AiX tones that you won't get with the X700. You can also create custom tones on the X3000/8000 and the X5000/X9000, so you can make your own sounds if you don't like the ones that come with the keyboard. The full 17-track MIDI sequencer is back, but you still can't export songs directly as audio files like you could with the WK-7600; you'll need to make separate recordings from the outputs on the back panel. Back panel wise, you have dedicated L/R Mono outputs (X5000/X9000 only, not on the X3000), a stereo headphones output, two pedal inputs for sustain and/or expression pedals, a mono Mic Input with gain knob (X5000/X9000 only) and the usual Audio in 1/8" stereo jack for external sound sources. You also get a USB flash drive port if you want to import MIDI files, registrations, rhythms, and custom tones, and although you can't record new audio files on it, you can play back audio files from the flash drive if you want to play along with a track. The X700 can import MIDI files, songs, rhythms and registrations but NOT tones, and requires you to connect to your computer for data transfer because it lacks a USB flash drive port. The WK-7600, CT-X700 and CT-X3000/X8000 can all run on bateries so they're fully portable, but the X5000/X9000 must be plugged in as the speakers on it are much louder than the others and require more power. All of these keyboards are USB-MIDI capable, so if you want to use them as MIDI controllers for music production software on your computer, they'll all work fine for that. I would say that if you just want some really nice sounds in a simple and portable package and you do most of your songwriting and recording with external gear, you should go with the X700. If you like the AiX sounds a lot, but want more control over the sounds and need a more serious MIDI sequencer, you should go with the X3000/X8000 or the X5000/X9000. If you plan on writing and recording a lot of songs on the keyboard itself and you don't like composing or recording music on a computer, then the WK-7600 has all the features you'll need for that. Hope this helps!

Hello, could you/Casio do a video tutorial on setting up recording levels on the 'Line Out' for recording? I'm a new Ctx5000 owner and find the monitoring volume is quite low, which makes it difficult to record by overdubbing. I recorded this kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3jWfaCVea5jbZI on my 20+ yr old CTK-811EX via phones socket to a DI box to laptop on Audacity. I'm trying to record with my ctx5000 but proving difficult because monitoring via headphones is low. The playback level is fine from the laptop.
