Hi, friend. Can i get a MIDI-USB cable and use Kontakt with the keyboard to record on my computer? I have the CTK 593 laying around here and really want to buy a MIDI controller for home studio but its too expensive in my country. Can a MIDI-USB cable solve this for me? thank you
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
I think it would work, yes.
@teogonzalezcalzada58124 жыл бұрын
I bought the cheapest MIDI controller that i could found on amazon (HDE, about $20) and has been working perfectly. I tried it with garageband on a mac and with reaper on linux and worked perfectly, but on windows it had some latency... I guess it had to do with some parameters that I needed to tweak.

When did the Casio CTK-593 come out? Does it sound similar to this one? Did the CTK-591 come out and then the CTK 593? I can't find much on the CTK-593. Wondering why???
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
I didn't know there was a 593 to be honest. I think it's likely that they are the same keyboard but marketed to different regions maybe. Casio has been known to do that sometimes. If there are differences I'd say they would be minimal. The big differences are indicated by the middle digit in my experience with Casio's three-digit models. Gearfacts

Hi JN, they are non-weighted synth keys. Nothing special. They are velocity sensitive though, so you can still play quite expressively.

Hi I'm from Italy and I accidentally broke the charger what charger should I buy? Cause I had AD-5G pls help
@gearfacts5 жыл бұрын
I think it takes a 9 volt DC 500mA with a centre-negative tip. Just show that to the people in an electronics store and they'll know what to give you. They will also have power adapter kits that have multiple connectors inside, they will always work. Or you can search on ebay "Casio AD5G replacement" and you can order one from China. It'll work fine and be very cheap but it might take a couple of weeks to arrive. I hope that helps :) Gearfacts

8:12 With the whole Roland SK-500 discussion we (barely) had, even I am now seeing the advantage of MIDI instead of USB. USB depends on drivers, and good luck getting old drivers on modern Windows (and possibly "current" drivers, 10 years from now). MIDI? No problem! Just...use that with your device and connect it to something else...which may have to use USB! It's kinda concerning when I think about my PSR-E413 *only* having USB... My older Radio Shack keyboard had MIDI, but I no longer have *that.*
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
Well put: USB does indeed rely on drivers. As one shop guys said to me years ago - "Computers can do a lot but they are high maintenance." I still feel it's better to use hardware whenever possible. And I use the word "feel" quite deliberately there :) Gearfacts

Nice brief review showing most of the good points. But, your demo mixes of layers is a bit sad really, because there are some really excellent layers to be made on this keyboard, using sounds like organ with synth or accordion etc. Although it's written on the keyboard and shown in your video I did not hear you mention about the TOUCH SENSITIVE feature. I think you mentioned that in another of your videos about a different model. People should understand what the difference is between TOUCH SENSITIVITY and TOUCH RESPONSE. The latter is found on many other keyboards including some Yamaha and is a bit deceptive really, because it does not mean the same thing as Touch Sensitive which is what you get on a real piano, whereby how hard you hit the keys will determine if you get a louder or softer sound. if someone is learning piano then this feature is essential.
@gearfacts6 жыл бұрын
True, and velocity sensitivity can often affect the actual timbre of the sound too, not just its volume. I would like to have gone into more detail with this keyboard but it's all subject to personal time constraints and keeping the video to suitable length. Thanks for your feedback though :) Gearfacts

it is a decent rompler- not a synth. has all the wierd quarkyness expected from casios (bit crushed anyone?) i would not recommend this to learn piano as the keys are not wieghted- but does have that nice touch sensitive volume. i am a circuitbender though- so take anything i have typed with grains of salt. as a rompler- it is decent BUT i highly recommend a sustain pedal. imho, it is great for folks who just want a toy and perhaps learn a bit. i would recommend to ...hmmm..."advanced" users cuz pair this with a daw and things get interesting....worth the price and keyboards of all kinds tend to appreciate [value] over time.
