Full-fledged 16 track sequencer is something missing in today's Yamaha budget arranger keyboards, such as the Yamaha PSR-E473 , I wish this feature makes a comeback on this segment

I had one of these not long after it first came out. I remember really liking a lot of the sounds, but found the interface a real pain to use/learn after coming from an ESQ-1. I maybe would have kept it around if it hadn't felt so difficult to program.

Hi Gearfacts, thanks for your videos. Venom was my first synth in 2015. I still use it because some of the presets I like. Like many keyboards, it has a limited sound palette despite the tweaking, which I like, and also know when to put away. That's the idea of having various keyboards. Or having 10 electric guitars ^^ And there's laso the price point. I can make a lot of music with my ten 100e keyboards and transistorized organs. And have much fun. Then I bought my Kurzweil PC4 recently to have everything in one board, which I like, because it comes handy and you can always add .wav samples of your synths in it. So when I'm away or touring, I'm delighted with that 1200e board. And I'm so happy to get home and play my 15 keyboards who are all fun to play, and have their unique sound palette. I recently wanted a polyphonic analogue, leaned strongly towards the Behringer Pro-800... And then discovered the Dreadbox Nymphes which I have now for even cheaper. Both have a very different sound. Though I'd like to have the Pro800 too when money's get back in my wallet. Otherwise, which electronic parts did you order to replace the Venom's knobs ? Half of mine are dead after 7 years, I can barely change any parameters know :/ Have a good day
@gearfacts22 сағат бұрын
Hi there and thanks for such a great comment :) The knobs I used were generic ones from the local electronics store, they're pretty easy to fix if you can do soldering basics. The outer knob is just a simple screw-on mechanism. And I agree, it's a superb synth with a ghastly operating system that really puts a barrier between the user and its full potential :(

I’ve had one of these since 2015. It cost around 60 pounds back then, if I remember correctly. I quite like it, though the lack of a sustain option is a drawback. The cheesiness of the sounds is quite appealing, actually.

I dont think this one has sensitive keys right? Would you recommend this keyboard over something newer with touch sensitive keys like a Casio CTK-3500?
@gearfacts16 сағат бұрын
It’s a very personal choice, but I would choose the older one. I thought it did have touch sensitive keys - better google that, I might be wrong. Anyway, the ops Casio is cheaper and more fun imho

Hi Gear! I finally have an AX3000G since a few days, and it was easy to configure the major part. I've noticed some limitations in comparison to other multieffects that i have, a Boss GT5, like changing the order of the effects (may be there is a way?), and not all the parameters can be assigned to the control footswitch, or the lack of momentary footswitch which is a shame. But the step sequencer is fantastic, and the synth for videogame sounds is really good. Just only for that is awesome, but at least it has some few more glitch sounds that makes it great, even not being able to do all the parameter assigns.
@gearfacts2 күн бұрын
Yeah I"m not aware of any way to change the effect order, but there's not doubt that it's original and very fun. Thanks for your comments!

Even not so great sounds can sound awesome when tweaked with the right effects. I still have my CT-700 I got in high school. I kept it just as a practice keyboard, but later started running it through a Boss GT-8 effects processor into the PA and found awesome sounds there that I used on jam sessions and live performances recorded in my loft apartment in NYC in the 2000s.
@derekhuntingtonmarti4 күн бұрын
I love this appreciation for and record of old, cheap gear. Not only do these have some cool sounds, but run even not so great sounds through some great effects and tweak away and you will find magic. I still have my CT-700 I must have bought when I was in high school. It's not one of the cool ones - no sound-editing options. Later, in the 2000s, I got a Boss GT-8 effects processor and running it after the Casio and into my PA it resulted in really cool sounds at jam sessions and live performances I recorded with other musicians in my loft apartment in NYC.

You can arp any sound - Just hold the arpeggiator button down for a few seconds, then press "+" to set the value on the screen to anything over 20 (or might be thirty, I can't remember - into the arpeggio choices anyway), the press the arpeggio button once more briefly to activate your choice.

Should the inputs on these be able to handle output from a DVD player ? I patched a DVD player into channel one and it worked fine for a while and then no output.

Should work fine. It's not a good sign, I'm sorry to say. But try changing settings and your choice of inputs, try every option.
@accidental_relevance2 күн бұрын
@@gearfacts The DVD player has been working fine in channel 2. But I can tell it's a high signal for the input because channel and master volume are both set at 2. When I first plugged it into C1 it had no output, and then suddenly a very loud pop and then worked fine for awhile. I'm running a mic through C3 to practice singing with a backing track.

The simplicity of turning on and recording cannot be over emphasized. I hate the PC or Apple saying it needs to update when all I want to do is quickly record an idea. It's an idea tool not a fully working studio although there have been some very good demos recorded on these. For god's sake Lady Gaga used this as her writing tool. Now she sold millions of records.

I have owned the Boss GT10 for about 12 years. Its horrible. I dont think I have ever managed to create a chain of effects, I just tweak/use the presets. The lights as mentioned are way too bright, to a painful level. I just use it as a reverb unit for my synths now. It cant even do that very well as the "potts" to adjust the amount of reverb do not work very well (never gigged it - just home use only). i.e - turn it down and it moves reverb amount up - its broke. Even the looper is garbage - 38 seconds? So i purchased a Zoom G5N unit 12 months ago - wow what a difference. Within seconds I had created great chain effects - so user friendly. I love my Zoom unit. I recently decided to buy a Boss Katana mk2 100 watt amp - what a load of garbage......DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE. I now need to buy another amp to replace this junk. No more Boss produts for me. Or Korg haha.....PLEASE STOP WITH THE MENU DIVING.
