Very interesting. Just bought one, was wondering about string tension being loose but mine works OK.

Yes it is a very interesting instrument. Playing this I find have to change my style compared to a regular guitar. Almost stricter in that you have make sure your finger touches the fret board completely and the strings need a clear pick to create a note, no harmonics on this 😁. At some point I want to add a midi out to my one, if nothing else to expand the sounds it’s capable of. Thank you for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video

Hi Bill, I've got an issue with my DG-10 where the strings dont really work, but occasionally spots on the fretboard will make a tone? Any Advice? Would this fix help my issue? I'm not skilled in repair so I don't wanna rip apart my unit or damage it further

It sounds like the fretboard may be ok but it’s where the strings attach on the bridge of the guitar. Assuming power light is on, speaker built in or external speaker are good and the strings are tight, without touching the fretboard you should get a sound from each string playing it open. I found with my one, if the strings aren’t tight enough you get no sound, check that first and they don’t have to be super tight but enough tension. My next thing would be to remove the back of the guitar, it’s just some cross head screws and check internally for loose wires or noticeable damage on the pcbs. Maybe a bit of contact cleaner spray on the bridge mechanism may help it to if the rest looks good. The fact you are getting a bit of sound out of it makes me think it could just be age and bridge contacts not making properly. Hope this helps and you can get it working again 👍

Hmm… interesting. I can think of a way of doing it electrically. If you swapped the wiring over internally so what would have been your 1st string now becomes your 6th string, etc all the way along. You’d have to do it on the string sensor as well as the fretboard I’d imagine.

I hadn't touched mine for several years and it seems dead. Was wondering if it could lose the sounds from memory? And ideas?

As far as I'm aware, the sounds are stored on an internal rom chip so leaving it for hundreds of years it shouldn't lose them. What I would do is first, check to make sure you're getting a power light. Assuming that it ok, it could be something as simple that your volume is a bit furred up stopping the sound getting to the speaker. if you don't want to open it up, make sure its turned off, remove the volume and tone knobs, spray some contact cleaner and move them back and forth several times and see if you can hear anything. I'd also try plugging in an external amp and seeing if there is any sound if you crank it up. Good luck with it
