I think the reason Casio has that adjust button recessed is so it will not be accidentally pushed while wearing it you have to be very determined to use that button so it will not adjust your settings unless you want it to.

@@ashtradam I just posted my comment (on your first review) about the button getting pushed in accidentally when pressed against my arm on the Illuminator 50m. That has been annoying when it happened. It's happened a few times now. So, as I said in the other comment, I have the G Shock coming and, at this point, am looking forward to not being able to accidentally depress that button. However, if it's a problem ... could you send one of your extra buttons?? 🙂

This was the most useful mod I’ve ever seen done to a G-shock 5600 square. I wish they came with the adjust button the same length as the 3 others. With the way the buttons have the cutout guards around them, I don’t think you would ever be able to accidentally push in the adjust button with your wrist. I cannot activate the button at all with my finger or thumb & have to use my fingernail to do it! It’s an absolute pain & my biggest complaint about the G-shock squares which I love. I have 3 squares: the classic 5600e, the blacked out 5600bb & the clear skeleton 5600sk. 🔥I think it’s absolute overengineering of a button that needs to be used too often to be this hard to operate.

Hello Sci-Fy guy, thank you for your comment. I felt the same way, when I started wearing the watch. After doing some research, and realizing the button was intentionally made that way I needed to fix it. I figured I'll make a video while I was at it for others to see it was possible. There is a split on opinions about this but I have never pressed any of the other three by mistake. I can set a timer while walking, or in the dark no issues at all. This makes it far more useful, and if anyone values the utility of this watch it shouldn't be difficult to operate. It's a tool watch and you shouldn't need a tool like a pen to push the buttons. Thanks for watching

@@ashtradam Just received it last night. I'm happy to report that the adjust button is definitely not as impossible to actuate as the DW5600E, although it definitely isn't anywhere close to as easy (or as enjoyable) to actuate as the DW290, my copy of which is within its return window but I'm tempted to keep simply because it's so much more ergonomically comfortable/convenient/pleasing than the 5610. I hadn't realized it when I ordered it, but my 5610 came with an aftermarket composite "combi" bracelet which is quite nice but is either too loose or ever-so-slightly too tight on my arm, which is also the case with my DW290's resin band. I do like the slim profile of the 5610, compared to the DW290 which is slightly thicker in every dimension. Unfortunately, I couldn't pass up what I felt were two good deals on eBay, and so in addition to the 5610 with a positive screen I currently have, I also have a 5610 with the negative screen coming my way as well. Between the three of these watches, I think I should be all set...until my eye catches the next shiny object.
@ashtradam
@ashtradam 2 жыл бұрын
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou You should go with what you feel best suits you. The 290 is a G-Shock but has its own following. The prices for the 5600 and 290 are just a couple dollars apart on Amazon. Are you saying the 5600 came with an aftermarket strap? I'll be doing a video on this soon so look out for it if you are interested. The saying goes you can't just buy one G-Shock but I've only has this 5600 although a couple more have caught my attention, but I'm holding off. I think you're set with those if they do what you need them to do. I wear the 5600 most often now. Again thanks for watching and your comments.

Excellent solution, I will do it right now with my new watch. The problem with this Adjust button is that it not only serves to change the time but also to reset the stopwatch and timer and that requires a button that is easy to press. Greetings! Update: I just made the change, in the process I lost the c-shaped adjustment piece, after searching a lot I used one from another damaged casio watch I had, otherwise I don't know what I would have done. The change is noticeable, however, this watch in itself is difficult to press the buttons due to the shape of the watch, perhaps it is not the best watch for day to day or for sports and using the stopwatch and timer.

Ha ha ha. I also had the same thought. At first I thought they send me a defective piece. Then later on I understood that Casio gave me a master piece. They had calculated pretty much everything before producing the final product. This watch is literally unbreakable, can be used for any kind of harsh environment. It's worth it. Mind blowing. Casio should have a time delay with the adjustment button like they have with their other watches like the G5600 for example where you have to hold the adjustment button down for a few seconds before the watch enters adjustment mode. This way you can have all the buttons set at the same height. Also something to note the bezel for the GW5000 has a better fit and the adjust button sticks out a little more.
@ashtradam
@ashtradam Жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, that would be a good solution. I noticed that the adjust button does have a different cutout compared the other three which contributes to the difficulty besides the button being shorter. Looking at the Gab-2100 you clearly see the adjust button sticks out and many others Casio makes. Thanks for watching
@RobertNES816
@RobertNES816 Жыл бұрын
@@ashtradam the adjustment button is meant to be pushed with a fingernail. Casio made it difficult to push so you don't put the watch into any adjustment mode. But at the same time it makes it difficult to use the split and reset functions on the stop watch, but again if you use your fingernail it makes using the button much easier.

How did you manage to get that miniscule clip off. @ashtradam
@ashtradam 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there, you also want to make sure the clip is seated in the groove at the tip of the pusher so it doesn't slide off. Also pulling the clip off didn't work I had to pop it off from the underside. Did you complete the swap? How does it work now? Thanks for the comment
@Jell0zz
@Jell0zz 3 жыл бұрын
@@ashtradam I managed thanks to the video and some fiddling! It works a lot better and I can now use the other functionalities a lot better, since it registers every button press. I didn't see a groove myself, but I noticed a distinct click. If Casio Reps ever come across this video they oughta rethink their design choice with this 'special adjust button' because it's 10x worse than the regular DW5600 button I replaced it with.

@Ashtradam, a somewhat off topic question related to the DW5600: I've read somewhere that if you press and hold the upper left, lower left, and lower right button simultaneously (I think it is some kind of LCD diagnostics), this will bring you to the service screen (screen test) or the like. This would also be an indicator that you own an original Casio watch. However, I recently bought a G-Shock DW-5600E (from an authorized reseller of Casio watches) and I have tried to do this basic step to no avail; nothing happens. I have now begun to wonder if I have been sold a fake G-Shock, since I have been able to this and similar diagnostics test on all the cheap Casio watches I have previously owned. Basically, I really want to know if I should expect this feature on the 5600E or not? Also to anyone out there reading this: If you own a legit G-Shock 5600E could you check your own and see if you are able to do this diagnostic on your watch. Sincerely M

The fact is that there is no reason for the button to be so excessively recessed.
