Hi Doug, great review and thanks. Maybe I missed it but how is battery life? I’m heading on an eight day trek up a mountain next year and currently believe the GBD-H1000 to be my best bet to get GPS and ABC with the longest battery life? I’d really appreciate your opinion. I need ticker tape (heart rate) too
@DougFNJ2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gordon, always happy to help. You can get 3 days with normal usage, and if you keep it in power saving mode, you can get up to 30 days. The LCD overlay with the time helps conserve battery life.

Should add tough solar like the GPS Rangeman. I have the Rangeman and because of the solar charging, I have never needed to charge it with the external (proprietary) charger. Or at the very least, make the charger just a USB-C or compatible with an Apple Watch charger. 🤷🏻♂️
@DougFNJ2 жыл бұрын
The GPS eats through battery life on the Rangeman, so the battery life takes a major hit when in use. If the GPS is not used often, the solar is sufficient to keep it charged. A smartwatch eats battery life daily, slow trickle from solar would be negligible compared to the rate the battery consumes. I wish smartwatch manufacturers could figure out a way to get solar to extend usage another day or 2, but the technology isn't there yet.
@jtmag442 жыл бұрын
Add solar and I'm sold. Nice review,
@DougFNJ2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jim. I don't think the solar could provide enough juice to keep it going long enough to justify it is the only thing I could think. But with that second layer screen and being able to read the time clearly in all lighting in sleep mode, it gives you longer life than most smartwatches.
@jtmag442 жыл бұрын
@@DougFNJ That's what I was thinking as well. However, they have it on the Rangeman w/gps and it seems to help slow the rate of drain at least. Wearing it in the field without solar......well it's not optimal.

I owned a GSW- H1000 and I liked it very much. I used it daily and mostly when I go MTB in the trail. However, it still lacks some features which other smartwatch offer eg. Apple Iwatch. I think the emergency call after a fall is an important feature for a sport watch. G- Shock still has a long way to compete with major smart watch in the market today. Until then, I don’t think it will kill other smartwatches in the market. I don’t like the WearOS. It’s not so user friendly.
