I used to have this same one as a teenager. These don't get as much love as the earlier Casiotones, but were still pretty great for what they were.

I have one of these keyboards! This keyboard as for basics it is the same as the Casio Casiotone CT360. What differs this from the CT360 1) Drum Pad Jacks, 2) Variable Rytm, 3) Separate Accompaniment Volumes for Melody and Percussion 4) Stereo and finally 5) Sall Size. For such a small package this Casio MT-205, Retro Keyboard packs a Punch! And Yes, I do have the Casio Casiotone CT360 as well, that was the first keyboard that started it all for me.

Nice! I got mine for £5 from eBay which is almost the equivalent to $7, I’m not sure how much £5 is in US currency but you got a great bargain there, especially that it also came with a Casio soft case!

The Drums sounds here are *PCM sounds* (equivalent to AWM in Yamaha ir AAC on Roland), like in RZ-1. Sounds for Drums on MT-52 and MT-85 was analog.

I am not familiar with AWM. With the Yamaha PSR 31 there were PCM sounds.

I certainly did enjoy that! In the future, if there are keyboards with a lot of sounds, for example, the Casio CTK-120, it would be nice to know what the different sounds are called. I can't find any manuals anywhere that are accessible to me. My screen reader struggles with PDF's! I liked the little fanfare you did on one of the sounds there, it's like a game called Pitfall for the Atari 2600!

With all the multi thousand dollar keyboards it's funny how sometimes we like to just go back to the basics
@KeyboardKrazy496 жыл бұрын
Abraham Im thank you for your comment! Yes I know exactly what you mean, there are expensive keyboards nowadays when it comes to the top models, but sometimes we all like going back to basic keyboards every now and then as they are more easy to use and don’t have so many technical features, this keyboard only costed me £5 (UK Currency) on eBay and it was in my home town so I went to pick it up, quite a great bargain for this keyboard! Thanks for watching!

Awesome video! Am I hearing it right that for example on the synth sound voice, the higher notes are quieter than the lower notes? Because with mine they are, and it sounds pretty similar to the video.
@KeyboardKrazy495 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply, I don’t think I have noticed the higher notes being quieter then the low notes, but you could be right as they are higher notes and for example: on a piano the high notes are high pitched and doesn’t make a full on noise, but with the lower notes you get a full on loud sound with a lot of bass when they are struck hard enough
@falconfx40425 жыл бұрын
@@KeyboardKrazy49 thanks, its not a big deal except for the "synth" sound which is annoying to play because I cant hear the high notes when I play simultaneously with the low notes xD

They're basically the same drums sounds/samples, as those found on the HT 700, 3000 & 6000, MT 600 & RZ-1 drum machine. (& probably a few other Casio keyboards as well) As for the sound quality....it's ummm....distinctively, 8-bit "Casio". I've often wondered what type of drum kit they used, to make/record the actual samples.
@HavenMarches5 жыл бұрын
*16 bit Casio technology in these kinds of keyboards is close to that of the Sony chip found inside a SNES, which is essentially a sampler

I want to say mid 1980's....like maybe 1984-6. I remember my parents buying me 1 around that time. I know it was definitely after 1983, but BEFORE 1987, because I got a Casio HT-3000 in 1986. If I HAD to bet, I'd say 1985....maybe '86

PS 55 and 6100 have been a few generations earlier probably. I'm also not sure when this MT-205 came out. I haven't seen about this model at all even. But the implementations and sounds let me assume it's rather 87. I think some of the first Yamahas with Intro/Ending was the PSR-60 or at least the 70.

are there differences in sound quality between this one and (my lovely) MT-65?
