Thank you for providing such valuable information. It appears that this keyboard is good for now, and since I am not a beginner, I have three keyboards in mind. Can you help me select one? 1. Casio MZ-x300 2. Casio PX - 360 3. Casio WK - 7600

Looks like a nice keyboard but you’re right . Looks like you’d have to really edit those sounds to get any really good ones for a band setting .

Absolutely. Looking over this video now (4 years later) I'm amazed at how little Casio delivered for such a high price tag.

In some ways I thought the CTX700 actually sounded better. The advantage with the MZX300 is that you can shape the sounds and hopefully make them a bit more interesting. I'll do a video about that :) GF

The sounds coming from Casio's XW series are much fuller & sounds better than Mz X series Keyboards.

Good point, I think the XW models were quite a lot livelier and more exciting. Gearfacts

And the "vintage" sound category has the same sort of 8 bit drums that the casio SK-1 has

Just upgraded from my (used) Casio XW-P1 to a (open box/demo) Casio MZ-X500 now being shipped, so I’m excited to explore the MZ. Tons of features, synthesis, effects, editing, more tones & rhythm options, plus I can create my own rhythms. Sampler, sequencer, arpeggio, pads, quality speakers & ext inputs closed the deal for me. More features than Roland or Korg workstations costing $1,000 more. Only drawback so far is the color! I prefer the elegant black tone of the Casio MZ-X300 to the blue MZ-X500 (I know, pretty shallow). Clearly they’re different keyboards - do you prefer the Casio MZ-X500 over this MZ-X300? More pads & creative options? Let me know. Great demo, by the way. As always!

Thanks Randy, I'm glad you liked the video. They're very similar keyboards really, it's just a simple case of 500 being 200 more than 300, if you know what I mean. The features are similar, the MX500 just has more sounds and more sample pads so you have more versatility for performing and creating. They're both a little tricky to operate but I've also made a video about updating the firmware and I believe Casio are making ongoing improvements. All the best!

Gearfacts - the seller claims this (open box) MZ-X500 has all the newest updates & warranty, plus everything included in the box, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Since it’s Dec 2020, I hope this means he updated to the latest Casio firmware, as he’s had it just a few months. As for ease of use, from demos & reviews here it seems much easier to navigate & create sounds with than most comparable & more pricey Yamaha/Roland/Korg workstation/arranger synths I’ve tried that require far more menu diving & patience. With its large touchscreen menu it looks easier than even the Casio XW-P1 I recently gave up on. I’m hoping to find more tutorials online... Cheers to you!

Yeah maybe. I'm sure the AiX goodness is there, but you have to work a little harder with this model. I think I'll persevere with it. I have a tendency to abandon synths too quickly, and I think this one deserves a chance! GF

I originally had lots of questions but you've answered them all in your conclusion video very sad that is synthesizer that appeared interesting, is it initially was fairly expensive seems inexplicable. I know there's no comparison but they certainly have fallen a long way since the cz- 3000 cz-5000. They just keep going up in price obviously not realistic style arranger though. Anyway thanks for the demo I'm going to finish watching your conclusion now.

It has all the features and in theory it should be great ....but it just left me stone cold... no personality whatsoever. I'd sooner go for a Casio Ct-x (if you like casio) or if your budget goes far enough, to a second hand Roland, Korg or Yamaha workstation. I was disappointed in the Mz-x in the end. #gearfacts
