*An absolutely beautiful Casio Oceanus. I’d love for this model to be my 1st Oceanus except that it doesn’t have a Stop Watch Mode or Countdown Timer Mode. But oh man is the bracelet gorgeous!*

Quartz watches perhaps +_ 1 second per day. Mechanocals= +_ 2 seconds depending on quality. I own this watch. Ridiculous accuracy. Nice piece. Beautifully made

Hi Paul: I've looked at many watches in a range that could be considered affordable and some that are not, certainly not for me - for example, the beautiful Grand Seiko spring drive models, which cost several thousands. Before I go further, let me say that I appreciate the creativity, very fine craftsmanship and aesthetics that go into making expensive and ultra expensive mechanical watches - I do. What I will include as reasonable and offfering outstanding value is some other Seikos, Casios, Citizens and such. I have worn cheap digital Casios for about 30 - 35 years because I could afford them, and for their useful functionality, ease of quick reading and of course their low cost. More recently I have come to appreciate analogue or analogue/digital hybrids and I now have a couple of inexpensive Seikos and one Casio Lineage, which I bought for excellent prices, the Lineage in nearly new but used condition for a song. I REALLY like the look of the Casio LCW-M170TD-1AER. I have been vacillating on spending what it costs for one - the best I can find is slightly below or a bit more than £200 (I'm in the UK). But, now that I've read more and seen reviews on this one, the Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF, I am very much leaning to that one. I will see what I can do to obtain one. Now here is what I want you to know - among all the reviews I have seen - on KZbin and elsewhere, I found yours to provide the clearest and most useful information. A FINE job - thank you! I also have you to thank for spurring me on that last little bit to obtain one. :-) Sincerely, Michael.

Wow Michael, i'm surprised i made such an impact on your decision. you are very kind to share your thoughts and Ideas. I used to wear digital casios too, and at first I didn't like analog watches so much. Lately my taste in watches changed a little bit. I had seikos, citizens, and an automatic Orient. I noticed that after my taste went towards some swiss automatic watches I ended up coming back to casio. In my opinion is one of the best options for me. Im glad this video was very useful to you! Thank you so much! Best of luck for you my friend!

Hi Paul: Thanks for getting back and good to hear from you. I had pretty much decided on this watch but it was your review that confirmed it for me. Similar to yourself, for many years I too preferred digital to analogue watches, almost exclusively Casio, and also like you, my taste has changed. I remain very fond of Seikos and think they represent fine value for what they offer, and now that I am also beginning to get familiar with Citizen, an undeniably huge company who make a plethora of models, I think they too offer very fine value. I've managed to get hold of a used Citizen Promaster Excalibur 200 metre diver's watch for a really excellent price on eBay and I'm very pleased with it. Coming back to Casio, they too are a juggernaut with a HUGE array of products and they also offer excellent value. Odd that they don't seem to be as well regarded in North America as over here and in Europe and the Orient. I am not yet familiar with Orient products but have read a couple of good things about them. I still admire fine mechanical watches and appreciate the beating "heart" aspect of them that can seem to give them life. Mind you - very interestingly, the exquisite Grand Seiko spring drive models, a hybrid mechnical/electronic design, though fundamentally still mechanical, has that smoothly sweeping second hand and is silent :-) Returning to your review, you provided relevant details, intelligently dealt with, in a way that I have not often seen in reviews. I want you yo know that I now have in my possession a Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF, which I won with aggressive bidding in an eBay auction and which was delivered to me the next day :-) Considering that it would likely cost close to or exceeding £500 (that's pounds) to legally import one to the UK from the Orient, including 20% VAT and a small amount of duties, obtaining it for a little over £300 is a great deal. Though used, it appears as new because it apparently was worn only a couple of times and came with original box and all paperwork as well as a few spare links, pins and those FIDDLY little collets that Casio uses with some of its watch bands. When received it was actually too tight for my left wrist, the opposite of what one usually finds, as my wrist is not thick or very wide. Taking great care I fiddled for the better part of an hour before I discovered, after a few attempts, that it fits me best with just one extra link installed. Well! What a *GORGEOUS* watch! It is an outstanding example of understatedly simple elegance, combining practical intelligently implemented technology. It's true - even the best photos I've seen, some of them very decent, don't quite do it justice. It's also my first titanium watch, and as you pointed out in your review - titanium carbide. So Paul, as long as you're going to do reviews, they might as well be good ones I say, and I'll repeat - yours really did the trick for me. I'm subscribed and if you do any more, I'll be eager to see/hear them them. Best wishes, Michael.

Michael K wow so you did get it!! Im glad, and its a great choice!!! I hope you enjoy it and it never fails on you. Great to hear from you ! Let me know if you get other high end casio and what do you think about them! I want to get another oceanus but is around 2000$ so i have to save a little haha. Maybe i will get it in the future since is a luxury rather than something i need. Thank you for sharing and encouraging me. My best wishes to you!

Michael K by the way i have an orient ray 2 is 175$ and the quality is the same as a 200$ seiko. Very amazing watch for the money!

Yup! I have it and am very happy with it. I think that for now, I'm spent out. :-) I 've accumulated several watches in my collection making what is for me a well rounded set. Of course I also still have a number of old and well worn Casio digitals and one Lorus. Ummm.... $2,000 for an Oceanus?! Which model is that? Surely we can find a better price than that for you - no? Best, Michael

Well I was wrong, this is a great watch, it took 3 weeks for the bracelet to become perfect. The face is great, so much better then my seiko sarb 033, people love this watch, I would order this before it's gone, the t200 is so simple compared to the t100.

You mentioned that the Seiko Spring Drive loses only 5 sec a year .. The specs are actually +15/-15 sec/ month ..

You are right! I apologize for that

grand seiko quartz is 5 sec year

The specs are +15/-15 per month but my Spring Drive is 15 seconds per year. The GS 9F quartz are spec'd at 10 seconds per year.

Hey! Awesome review, good job! I really liked this watch but I'm afraid it might be too big for my wrist. Do you think this watch have a good size for 6'5 wrist? I know sizes can be a personal preference but I don't know much about watches and it can be my first watch. :) I want a watch with a perfect size (not too big and not too small). I'm between this watch and the Seiko Sarb033, the size of the Seiko is good for me but it's automatic and I don't want to deal with maintenance, quartz watches seems more practical for me. The Casio Oceanus have everything I need but it might be too big. Thanks!

Hi Mauro, what a coincidence! my wrist is 6 and this is the watch that fits me the best! its totally perfect, it couldn't be more perfect for my wrist. I think it will fit yours greatly.

you never did show all the functions of the watch like what the AUTO, SDT, DST, MNL, R and W mean and how to use them. do you long press the big button? do you pull the crown out a certain way? do you push the little button on the same side with the big button and crown? these are things NOBODY shows in their "in depth" reviews and i think they are quite important when it comes to using the watch.

You need to read up on Spring Drive, it's accurate to 15s a month, not 5 a year.
@jsmith6974Ай бұрын
I noticed this too. You are correct about the spring drive. I think he confused it with the Grand Seiko 9F Quartz movement which is accurate to 5s per year.

I just bought this watch, the band doesn't look like its coated . It looks more like a ordinary titanium band and its sharp and a hair puller. Does your band look coated? Please respond
@watchroll33105 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't be able to tell weather is coated or not unless the color of the band is significantly different than the color of the case. The band has pulled some hair from time to time when I put it on but once is on I dont get hair pulled.
@mplsmnpi5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, I have other titanium watches but this band is sharp and looks like my other titanium bands. I see that the 200 they changed the lens and made it flat. That makes it easier to read.
