Casio's industrial design was truly top notch at the time

I can definitely see a lot of the influence in these Japanese portable computers, that inspired the elektronika mk-90. :p Even the like, expansion dock is super similar. I kinda wish these Sharps/Casios took off as the de-facto programmable calculator rather than TI.

I’ll bet there are nicads that are in a semi-open circuit condition (preventing power from getting to the computer) in the base along with really old capacitors and a charging system. The dock for my Sharp PC1251 is similar and contains nicads and a controller circuit. Neat unit. The syntax errors in that version of basic would drive me up the wall. Since when does 10 PRINT “HELLO” result in an error?

Very interesting machine! I wonder whether it had ever had reasonable application.

This one was used by a bank in the mid-to-late-80s (judging by the 7-digit phone number ... Australia moved to 8-digit phone numbers in the mid-90s). I suspect it would've been used by someone like a "loan officer" who would travel to clients to discuss a loan. They might enter client details, print out results, modify the loan parameters and show the difference (i.e. savings if you took a shorter loan term or had higher repayments). Previously they would've had to rely on just a calculator ... this would've been a "high tech" fancy way to woo a client ... especially in the 80s. /Brett

My favorite 4-liner from Casio! The OR-8 RAM modules only fit the PB-770 (the previous model, the PB-700 used the OR-4 4kb modules) and are as rare as hen's teeth today. The PB-770, although mostly identical to the PB-700 supported more RAM and allowed for user defined characters. Let me know if you decide to sell that unit, it's in excellent condition.

Definitely! Want to try the plotter out but so far I've only found the paper for sale in bundles of 20 rolls ... a little excessive ;) /Brett

We have just found a FA-11 dock in the middle of some things that were put aside for a long time, it seems to be in almost perfect condition, does anyone know how much its worth, thinking about putting it for sale... (sadly the PB-770 unit was not there as well.)

Checking the "sold" listings on ebay is a good way to measure what people will actually pay. There's a few listings for the FA-11 itself, asking $300-800 ... but checking sold listings has a couple that sold for $100-odd, with the computer included (not just the dock). Hope that helps!

not cload,,CASIO PB-700 use SAVE 'FILE NAME' to save program and use LOAD to load program.
