Tested the new Casio in store and the keybed is amazing, I have the previous generation, PX-5S keybed, but this new PX-S1000 and 3000 is a much quieter and easier to play, but not too easy, the balance between heavy and light is very good. Can't believe they actually managed to create such a good key touch in such a slim DP. The sound is also amazing, pretty loud and crisp.

AS a piano and kyb player.. I use Yamaha and Kurzweil.. since Casio released Privia PX S1000 at retail price of 599 bucks and this PX s3000 at 799 usd. I could not, even now, believe that level of design, light weight, premium sound and a considerable goo sort of features!! I mean, for the price. Good for CASIO they hit good points with its first hibrid piano/stage and latest stage piano/arranger.

Listening on a VERY good set of headphones, my pick for sound quality is surprisingly: 1. Casio (has clarity but also warmth and depth) 2. Dexibell (a little bright for my tastes) 3. Yamaha (sounds O.K. but somewhat thin and harsh compared to the Casio) 4. Korg (lovely bottom end BUT you can't deny the lack of that upper octave) From all the reviews I've watched, people (including some VERY accomplished pianists) are also stunned at the feel/quality of the Casio PX-S3000 key bed for such a compact and inexpensive unit. The truly portable 3 pedal option (without need for an accompanying timber stand) and the extreme light weight are other bonuses. Personally, I also find the Casio more visually appealing from an audience perspective, although that is hard to quantify in a video. Kudos to Casio for giving consumers such bang for their buck. There will still be those who can't foresee themselves playing an instrument with Casio's name on it but it is VERY clear that they are no longer just a Watch and Toy manufacturer. That perception change began with the introduction of their fine GP500 a few years ago, which was a wake up call to the legacy digital piano manufacturers. Much of that technology has now been brought down to this lower echelon. Sadly, we'll likely never see another new instrument from Casio incorporating a Bosendorfer sample now, that that company has been purchased by Yamaha. With the inexpensive processing power and memory now available, which enables greater polyphony, it is my humble opinion that high quality multi-track sampling of fine acoustic pianos has now surpassed Roland's approach of modelling such that their instruments are losing appeal. Gotta love competition.

I have owned many expensive digital pianos, and dumped them all - bought the Casio px s3000 and was shocked it sounded better than all including the Dexibell (I own the Dexibell module) and the key feel is great. One well known piano player has talked bad about the keys on the Casio, how the black are lighter, etc, but I think the keyboard feels and sounds great - BEST KEYBOARD YOU WILL EVER BUY FOR 850 DOLLARS!

Thing is that Casio sounds good since 2013 with their Casio Privia PX-5s, which I own! It sounds amazing, very good keybed, but unfortunately no half damper compatibility. It's a bit important for real piano players that can't afford a grand piano. This one seems like a great upgrade, I just wish it had a modulation wheel too, and probably some more controls to use as a midi controller, as nowadays they are very valuable. Please bring PX-5S sucessor!

I’m checking in 3 years later, September 2022. Miguel, I’d like to know what you are playing now. I, like you, thought there would be a ‘PX6s’ or even a ‘PX7s’, but I’m editing my PX5s like always. You know, I thought back then about the nice screen on the PX-360, 560, etc, but having spent time on the Hexi- and 4-Zone learning curves, I didn’t want to throw that all overboard. It’s two years down the road and I decided to start shopping again. It would be nice to have a quiet keybed. At the big-store-that-has-them-all I found: the Korg Grandstage, the slim, trim Casios in this video, the Yamaha CP88, CP73, P125, P121, P515. I’m checking in 3 years later, September 2022. I’d like to know what you are playing now. I, like you, thought there would be a ‘PX6s’ or even a ‘PX7s’, but I’m editing my PX5s like always. It’s two years down the road and I decided to start shopping again. It would be nice to have a quiet keybed. At the big-store-that-has-them-all I found: the Korg Grandstage and SV2, the slim, trim Casio S3000, the Yamaha CP88, CP73 and Roland’s RD2000 and their FP line. I have a feeling they may have hit the tech ceiling in the Stage Piano world. There may be no PX6s on the way. Today I started tinkering with the last 10 years in workstations. Holy cow, the midrange units have a lot to offer, maybe not as distilled down to precisely what a pianist is looking for or setups designed to make it easy for a classical, jazz or other specialized musician to super-intuitively want but these synths do have pretty much everything that our stage pianos have. In many cases, they sport the same keybed each particular brand’s stage piano use. I played with the Yamaha Motif offshoots, the older MOXF8 and newer MODX8 as well as Roland’s Juno-DS 88 and FA08. The Yamahas are absolutely incredible, the Roland Juno, too, was a revelation. Only the FA08 was lacking in its action and was very difficult to basically understand. All of them had tremendously good sound
@miguelesteves9740
@miguelesteves9740 Жыл бұрын
@@papadopp3870 Hey again. I have been quite into synths nowadays, but I still study classical and jazz piano. I still use a Master Keyboard with Fully Weighted Keys to study piano, but also to control all my synths via Midi. I have upgraded to the Kawai Mp11SE. I won't be needing any other keybed for a long time and if I wish to have better Grand Piano sounds I'll just use it with Pianoteq (not doing it at the moment). As you've said, synths have their own controls, and workstations are a big plus for producers, but I don't really like having everything "In one box", and usually workstations nowadays dont have fully weighted keys. I took the approach of not having too many keys at my home studio, as I dont have to get used to light keyboards. If you dont need inboard sounds, get the Kawai VPC1 which is the same keybed, but as a midi controller, which the MP11SE also is/has, but mind that the VPC1 doesn't have a pitch bend or mod wheel.
@papadopp3870
@papadopp3870 Жыл бұрын
@@miguelesteves9740 I hear you. I went out and played that Kawai. Wow, that’s the best action I think I’ve ever played in my life. Holy, holy goodness. Navigation is just fantastic. The sounds are really remarkable. It seems to have infinite velocity layers. The cool quotient doesn’t end, and the panel above the keys reflects my fingers! I’s pricey, but it’s a price that, because of the unbelieveable quality, makes sense. I really think the keybed and the action suit me a hundred times better than any unit I have touched. It has given me a lot to think about. The old PX5s is a 1942 Jeep while the Kawai is a high tech space craft. Thanks for your input- I would’ve never gone to that Kawai dealer with all the Steinway and Bosey wood in the window, but that’s over.

Made sure I listened to this blind....no peaking in advance to see the order...thought the first one was nice mellow but slightly boring, liked the 2nd one slightly brighter and more metallic, 3rd one was even brighter...too bright as though it’s trying hard to cut through a band on stage liked that the least...4th one I liked the best...more natural and real. So my choice is 1st Dexibell....2nd Yamaha....3rd Casio...4th Korg. The Casio is impressive when you consider its much cheaper then the others....so wins based of value for money. Also agree with the other comments....this guy has a fantastic channel....would love him to have English subtitles.

Here is my take. Yamaha is bright tinny and treblely. Casio has an excellent tone and a nice balanced sound. The Korg Sounds ok, close to the Casio but the tones are a little more blended together and subdued. The Dexibell is a bright piano more like an Italian Fazioli Grand digital piano but not in a bad way like the Yamaha. The Dexibell had the best clear sustain and harmonic resonance of the keys. It would be a great gig piano to cut through a mix. For the Price , my pick is the Casio. The Dexibell sound engine is made by ex Roland Italian Engineers. You can buy the internal sounds module and add it to any piano for a good tone generator of all the sounds a Dexi has. The only con the Casio has is the action. Night and Day compared to a dexi or grandstage. But who else makes a super slim lightweight piano that delivers as much. JMO.

I see a lot of hype about the casio, it's the case with most new digitals (oh look a new digital automatically becomes the best one), well I'd say they all sound excellent, now as for action I'd try it personally, since more than once got that feeling if having found the ultimate keybed as per reviews and the when you test drive it you immediately notice its a downgrade to whatever you've got home, so let's not be naive and some tells the feeling after trying it compared to some really good actions, not to put the job done here down, I love this channel and also initially like the Casio, just a quick thought 💭

Im looking seriously at the px3000, or maybe px1000 connected a laptop running mainstage for live work. Not sure about the ease of use on the casio for storing patches with splits/layers, and how well the touch panel is vusible for outside gigs on a sunny day. The casio560 also worth exploring. The nord stage3 or new Kurz are both nice but pricey, but excellent 88kbs but also not lite. Casio best blend of sound, value and easy to move. Judt my opinion.

Korg is the best. Not only for great pianos but all around as a stage piano. Great action and best U.I for performing on stage. I have tried them all { Not Dexibell ] but heard the action might be an issue and no service centers in the US, so not interested. I need to have a good action. Grandstage beats Yamaha CP88 hands down in an overall comparison. I had the CP4 which I like better than the CP88 except for the U.I. Grandstage has multiple, very easy ways to tweak your sounds to perfection and save it in literally 1 second! Just amazing, I bought the Grandstage 88 1 month ago. Nothing but compliments from my band on the upgrade in sound quality from the CP4, and people, in general, have said it sounds fantastic each time we perform. Several very quick ways to boost volume for leads or just, in general, to cut through the mix which it certainly does. I guess it is clear that I am very happy with my choice.

The Nightwork Band how is the action on the Grandstage?
@Nightworkband
@Nightworkband 5 жыл бұрын
@@flamwork06 Lol That was one of my biggest concerns after having the CP4 which as you know has excellent action. It took me all of 5 minutes to get used to it and it is fantastic. You also can go in and easily change the velocity curve to your liking which affects the overall feel and expressiveness. I took the advice of a couple of people and set it at 9 and wow,! very expressive feel. You can really dig into it. So a long answer to your question is great action and it is a blast to play. My girlfriend is having a hard time getting me away from it lol Just a great stage piano or for home. Whatever you need it for. Can't go wrong.

1. Casio 2. Yamaha 3. Dexibell 4. Korg The casio makes it so clean and warm. Yamaha makes it very flat and straight. Dexibell’s sound is so natural but I don’t like the sampled high notes. Korg is still korg sound and doesn’t change at all.

Yamaha sounds really clean, a bit too much if you ask me. Too cold and digital. Casio sounds fine especially considering that it's much cheaper than the others. Korg was quite nice but a bit too much "in your face". I would put that kind of piano on a house track but for actual playing it's kinda whatever.(reminiscent of the M1?) I liked Dexibell the most out of the bunch. There's a bit too much low mids but for me it sounded the most pleasant in my opinion.

The CP88/ 73 sounds too bright in all videos and on all sounds. Can anyone demonstrate being able to mellow the sound of the CP88 rather than just take the top-end off and make it dull? If not, I don't think it's for me, because apart from offering lots of decent Yamaha piano sounds, it seems like a step backwards. Also, could there be a possibility that Yamaha are currently pushing a piano sound that people just don't care for i.e. the CFX, however expensive it is? I prefer the Casio here, and I'm a big Yamaha fan.

Got a P515 and I much prefer the Bosendorfer sample to the CFX which is too bright and tinny.
@benjaminsmith2287
@benjaminsmith2287 3 жыл бұрын
The Garritan CFX is an extremely popular and high-rated VST. So, it isn't a sound people don't care for. The CFX as an acoustic piano is very popular at many Classical music competitions. In the P515 and such the sound is quite flexible and there's a mellow grand that has a darker voicing that sounds like it s based on the CFX. However, I prefer the CFX sound on the p515 vs. the CP88. And unlike Brick, I think the CFX is the more dynamic sound of the Bosendorfer/CFX. However, when it comes to the real pianos, the Bosendorfer 280VC is the piano that I think is pretty much tops. CFX is high up there. The Imperial is still good, especially in the bass, but the 280VC is just sweeter, more powerful except for the bass, and more vesatile.

Sound Yamahy do mnie przemawia.

1- Dexibell. Such a beautiful sound. The most natural and authentic piano. 2 - Korg Grandstage. Mellow, and with good body. 3- Casio. Wonderful sound for the money. A bit too much reverb, though. 4- Yamaha. The thinnest, most unnatural piano of them all. Way too digital and lifeless.
