I have the Skymod kit and filled the watch case with silicon oil. Now the 😊faceplate and lcd characters are completely jet black. Also the water resistance is increased with sapphire crystal and silicon oil from 100M to 300M making this a true divers watch with no mirror effect at any angle underwater, making this Casio one of the finest watches ever made. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation of the waterproofness of the case, no one mentions it in the videos, but the price of $100 for a modification that does not have a waterproof rating is way too much. The original watch in a plastic case has 100m waterproof rating, the $100 metal case has no confirmed waterproof rating. This may be important information for those who would like to purchase a modification.

I have the the SKX case for my AE1200. First, I agree with on the review; anything good with this watch is better in this case. Second, when I put my module in the case I received, all buttoned up, I set it in a bowl of water overnight just to see how it did, figuring if it crapped out I was out a module and would regulate it to a less austere environment for when I wear it. Dry as a bone the next day, used the buttons underwater to test a few functions and no leaks. Since then it’s been wet or otherwise submerged several times and no issues. Wouldn’t hesitate to swim in a pool with it, but not sure I’d “dive’ with it. Don’t dive so, LOL, that’s not an issue…my case came from SKX with two gaskets for the case that to my eye looked slightly thicker than the original one on the case…hope this helps.

I saw a simple mod many people forget...to cut out and apply a mobile phone scratch resistant film on the plastic screen, when the watch is new. I ordered C.Roy. from Ebay and will apply a transparent protective cover...as a first mod. I also starting to regret not buying the green map, at another netshop...maybe later on, if I decide for a steel mod. Also, they sell some kind of a bumper wires/frames (originally for G-Shock), I wonder how they would fit/look on these...have to test it too. Thanks for the demo!

But the prices you are quoting are not correct. Case is 100$, case+bracelet is 159$ and complete build is 216$, and I find those prices are unjustified for the value of the kit. Edit:typo

The "mod" is to delete most, if not all, of the text with nail polish remover, to clean up the design. On mine I kept "Casio" and "WR100" only. I do like the idea of the sapphire however. I've never been worried about how light it is, and the bracelet remains comfortable.

This is a great, if still flawed kit as you mention here. While I love that the case is now steel. That bead-blasted look doesn’t do it any favors IMO. It still looks plasticky, or that it’s made of softer less premium aluminum. It it were brushed instead with high-polish areas, like the bracelet. It would look much-much better! A 2nd Gen kit can’t come soon enough.

I like collecting watches worn in the James Bond films. I also like the design of this watch. However, I did not purchase it earlier because it was tacky, to me, to have a metal looking plastic case rather than a metal case. I shall have a second look at it now that this new model is out.

It's a very cluttered watch, too much text, like it tryes to advertice for it'self. On my own original, i erased the 'World Time' - 'Illuminator' - '10 Year Battery' and '5 Alarms' But one can't get rid of the engraveings. That's Sad, and it keeps me from bying this kit. Another hurdle, is the finishing difference in the case and bracelet. I do like the hefty'er feeling, from the original's plastic toy apperence. That's a plus. If it was just not for the engravings.

Nah, not the best upgrade. The case needs to be plain, without the "world time" and "illuminator" nonsense. "Wold time" and "Illuminator" were the first things I erased from my royales.
