Soulful, pitched up drones of Richie Ashcroft on the hook. Hell of a tune that, incidentally called "The Drugs Don't Work" too, by the Verve. Britpop, mid-90s.

Great reaction to a great track. I'm not generally a CAS fan but this track hits hard! Also, that chorus is sung by a bloke. 'The Verve - Drugs Don't Work' is a very, very well known song over here. I get serious schoolboy nostalgia when I hear that chorus lol. Released the day after Diana died, so it's sombre nature probably helped make it blow at the time.

After loosing a very close friend to suicide through drug abuse, Castros music tuned in with me especially his older stuff, never liked rap about pain and heartbreak but this is as raw and gritty as it gets I think, without it being cringe. Also check out play faze mutate remix, and sillian braille both bangers👌

10:35 When I was really struggling with my OCD and psychosis, I was put on various anti depressants. One of them fucked me up so much I slashed my throat up to fuck and was sat there in tears, blood coming out my neck, all the doors around me smashed up after I put my fists and head through them. Never again. Discharged myself, never took any more meds. I was never suicidal, I struggle with homicidal urges, thoughts, visions and voices, however those drugs made me suicidal while I was on them. I still struggle with the shit in my head, but I'm doing much better now I'm out of the system, not seeing therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists and most importantly, not taking any fucking meds. If anyone's interested, the specific drug that made me go like that was lofepramine.

Sounds like you went through Hell, bro. I know the road ahead can still be dark at times, but you're walking it on your terms. Make sure you talk to someone when it gets too dark. Occasionally I need to check in with my therapist because I can feel myself slipping away. Sometimes I just talk with my older brother. Both have helped me out of the pit a couple times.
