We recently bought a new camper not a Casita but another brand. Unfortunately we encountered the exact same problem with our bumper being to small for our old Rhino Flex sewer hose. All of the options as to what to use and where to mount it just would not work because of space restraints or ground clearance. I think there are thousands out there with the same problem. I am grateful to you for your video with the detail you give. You have solved my problem. Thank you for such a great video.

Drill a couple of holes in the end cap for air circulation and keeps hose dry. Place the holes as close to the bottom as possible for rain drainage. Hope that helps.

GREAT presentation - thanks. I deviated for holding the end caps on by simply drilling a 1/4 inch hole through both the post and end cap, then just drop a 1/4 X 6 inch bolt through both. Done. I have been using this method with my bumper rubber caps for 20 years.

Good job. I was planning to do the same thing but mount it to the frame behind the propane tanks. As for storing items in the old bumper - these tend to get very rusty on the inside and will stain anything in side. I put a piece of nylon house gutter inside of mine. You have to trim it to fit, but it will keep most of the rust off.

D M Thank you for your comments. If I had a carrier set up on the rear bumper like you described, I would maybe move the spare tire up some and put a plastic container like I put on the bumper on the top of the bumper instead of on the rear. Hope you can make it work. You could also mount one behind the propane bottles like I showed in the video.

Great video. I think I’ll do the same thing, but mount the fence post to the bumper using steel straps. I love the idea of storing the awning tools in the bumper. I saw in another video that you added little shelves or storage bins inside the Casita for phone charging etc, that would be neat to hear how you mounted them. I’d like to use suction cups or some other non permanent mountains system so I can have flexibility as our needs change and not damage the fiberglass. Maybe double sided tape would be the best solution?
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 6 жыл бұрын
Stuart Stuart The little bins under the overheads on each side as well as the rectangular one on the wall under the thermostat were purchased online from Little House Customs. They came with double sided tape. The other items we have on that wall were Wal-Mart items and again double sided tape. We also use command hooks elsewhere. Thanks for the comments and questions. Have a great day.

I'd add a clip at the peak of the cap so the bungee does no slip off the end and loose the cap! also when you un-clip the end of bungee the cap stays with the bungee and does not get misplaced. Maybe paint it black to make it look like a bumper.

I maybe would have mounted it underneath the bumper Incase I ever get rear ended. That fence post won’t stand much force so if it was underneath at least the actual bumper would be there to help take the force.

I’ve never seen anyone install it on the rear face of the bumper. Interesting. I would consider an eyelet on the end caps and crimp one end of the bungee so it doesn’t come off. You can also use a piece of symmetrical gutter as a tray inside the fence post to make it easier to retrieve the sewer hose. The gutter can also serve as a hose support.
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 6 жыл бұрын
I did have an eyelet on the caps of the ones on the front. Over time, they cracked where they were drilled so I went back to just a cap. In the metal bumper, I did add a cut piece of 4" pvc for my awning support and crank. I tried that in the sewer hose storage and found that for me, it was just extra since the hose goes in and out easily. Thanks for you comments.

I have used this mod for over a year now, exactly as you instructed. On our last trip, I lost the sewer pipe and fittings, as the end cap slipped down far enough for everything to slide out. The bungee cord had weakened just enough to allow the end cap to slip down. Amazingly, I still had the end cap, it was just too low to hold the pipe in. Have you any suggestions for an alternate means of securing the end caps?
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can drill a hole in the cap close to the side near the tube and then drill a hole through the end cap side through it and the tube lining it up with the one drilled on the end. Then place a carabiner through the holes. You could also drill a hole on the top of the cap through it and the tube and just drop a bolt through it to lock it in place, make sure your bolt is 2-3" long so it doesn't bounce out.
@steveisenhower2864

Can you tell me how long you cut the vinyl tubing/post that you used on the front of your Casita frame? Would you recommend that length for the front? You said you cut the rear tubing to about 68". - Thanks. I am following your model.
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 5 жыл бұрын
The one in the front is 60" so it doesn't stick out too much on the sides.... I guess for turning clearance to the bumper of the tow vehicle and air resistance.
@albion2742
@albion2742 5 жыл бұрын
Keep an eye on those rubber bumper caps. I lost two of the original ones then replaced them with the ones that you have to squeeze to get them in the pipe, I lost one of those too.They tend to shrink when the temperature gets extra cold.So make sure they are tight before you lose your awning post.
@RVAdventuresTV

Thanks for that info... I will maybe add some hooks to stretch one of those mini bungee cords over it.

What length of hose do you find sufficient at campgrounds? I'm about to buy a Rhino hose, but they come in different sizes.
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 4 жыл бұрын
I have the 15 foot hose and it works in 98% of all campgrounds... I have the 10 foot extension just in case and I have only had to use it once. Usually you can position your trailer fairly close to the sewer connection but there are times you may want to back it in more or less for shade or convenience to a picnic table, etc.

I have a 20' hose. I wonder if it would fit with the added inches. Hmm.

Maybe you could collapse it down and measure it to make sure before undertaking this mod. Thanks for commenting.

That's what I ended up doing. It doesn't fit entirely, but between the existing bumper and the front mod, it does.

So does the 45 actually fit in this as well or do you have to remove that part still?
@RVAdventuresTV
@RVAdventuresTV 5 жыл бұрын
Yes... it all fits well with no removal of the fittings.

Any one know if a 1984 casita only has one tank on it for grey and black water any help would be appreciated thanks

I have never heard of an RV not having a black tank that is separate from the gray tank, but anything is possible. I have heard of some RV owners combining the tanks after installing a composting toilet.

Unless that's a new hose I'm grossed out that there aren't any gloves being used while touching it.

HATE TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT HOSE DOES FIT IN SQUARE BUMPER: 1) Remove FITTINGS from the hose 2) iNSTALL CAP/PLUG in end of hose that you wish to insert first; 3) (on the hose end, there are four little plastic SPLINES); Line these up with the 4-CORNERS of the SQUARE bumper, and Insert ; 4) Push hose into bumper, collapsing it as you go, 5) when fully inserted/ collapsed, install the other cap/ plug on the end of the hose; 6) Insert last end of hose, and install/ close bumper cap. 7) Bag and store fittings elsewhere

Correct... but with fittings, no fit. That is why I built the bigger storage bumper so I would not have to take off the fittings. Thanks.

Yes mine fits also but I do not have to remove the fitting. I have the sane ryno hose. The bumper is 4x4 not sure why mine fits and his doesn't

What did you use to raise the tire up that was sitting on the original square tube. How much did you have to raise the tire. I have built the TUBE. Which hole in the rim did you use.
@Texas_Knights

@@rshoffitshoffit3522 I made this exact same mod, exactly as he shows here. I simply put the spare tire bolt through one of the lug nut holes to raise the tire. You have to tighten it good so it doesn't shift, but it works.
