If you use a vinyl rain gutter as a glide inside your 5 inch vinyl post your hoses can just lay on top of it and slide the whole thing inside... when you take them out then you can also use it to keep your hose straight going from your RV to the dump site.

You can order that vinyl fence post material online in black. FYI - maybe just wear a stocking cap for padding (my plumber does this when working in crawlspaces)

Thanks for the great video. I built one similar to the one you showed; I mounted it on the back bumper of my super C. The only issue that I ran into was that the fencepost caps were super tight fitting and were difficult to remove (by design as they are only supposed to go on once). My solution was to take a belt sander and remove some of the material from the fence post in the first inch; witht a little bit of patience I was able to get a fit that was snug, but not too tight. I also drilled 3, 3/4" drain holes in the bottom of the post and added a small gate handle and retention chain to the lid. Again, thanks for the inspiration video.

Larry is Alice beating you again? lol. Come on Alice get in on that black tank. It is not that bad. What in the crap do you need those safety glasses for. You never get hurt. lol That is a pretty cool setup. I can think of many things even beyond sewer lines that you might could store in there. We all know more storage of any kind is great on a RV. No hamlet I want to see where this leads. Man you are super crafty. You and my wife will get along well. She is good with stuff like that. Thanks for the share y'all. I think I may use this for different storage area ideas.

I think I saw the same video as you. Mine looks almost exactly like yours. The only thing I did differently was I painted my post black beforehand. I also screwed the opposite cap shut on the camp side. I like your hitch pin much better. Mine is a threaded rod with a wing nut that's kind of a PITA. I couldn't find a pre-made hitch pin long enough. Kudos for fabricating your own.

That is clever and bigger. Originally I was thinking glueing one cap, but saw that you made it basically as wide as trailer so access from both sides might be useful. I've also seen one smaller storage bay with a basket that has all the sewer stuff including the black tank flush hose and the gloves. It's all that lives in it, that way it doesn't stink anything else. They use a magic hose that is a different color than the drinking water hose.

C'mon, Alice! Just get in there. You've changed diapers! lol! I do all the spetic stuff on both our rigs. It's the deal my hubby and I have. He fixes stuff, I dump. I just keep the attachments in a sealed plastic bucket in the storage bay. We are seldom ever in an RV park so don't use them very much. This is a great DIY, Larry! If you get a 4" vinyl eavestrough/rain gutter the same length as the fence post, slide it in first and now you have a pullout drawer for the stinky slinky. As an added bonus, the eavestrough can be pulled out and used as a sewer hose support while you are parked and set up. It may be better going up to a 6" post and a 5" eavestrough so the fittings fit in better. I'd love to take credit for the idea, but I can't I saw it online somewhere else.

You think that's a lump? Wait until you get whacked with a Jeep driveshaft! 🤕 Great job, only thing I could improve would be to suggest some kind of tether line / cable so the lids don't get lost.

Silas, did you see the other head injury video 🤣. I almost fainted. Larry said your tether line is a good point. He needs to add that. Thanks. Stay safe. Helmet for you? Alice

@@DownsizingMakesCents Yes, did find that vid of his head-butting the hitch angle plate, and I'll give you points for a worse injury, bleeding wise, than my Jeep driveshaft, which acted more like a club, rendering me semi-conscious with a huge lump. Always good to have a 'complete' first aid kit with wound closures, etc. Be safe!

Or just go to home Depot and buy PVC pipe and zip tie it under your RV

Curious what happens when you force the hose and fitting into the bumper @ 0:24? I suspect it will eventually get it stuck and rip the hose trying to remove it when it binds up. Here is another great version with a spring loaded door, so you don't drive off without the door... The gutter tray is very good idea too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnq5hoZ3oquFf7M I sympathize with the lumps on the head Larry, its just part of owning an RV.
@DownsizingMakesCents

It Is a very tight fit in the bumper, I keep a piece of pvc pipe handy to push it through the other side when it gets stuck. That’s why I did this project, now I don’t have to worry about it. Larry

Almost easier just to buy another round sewer tube
@DownsizingMakesCents
@DownsizingMakesCents 4 жыл бұрын
Rick, hi. A second tube is an option but they are much more expensive and the main point is they are too small for all the attachments. But if you are not a DIY guy you can definitely just have the bucket of accessories separate in your basement. Thanks for your thoughts. Alice

Something just occurred to me in regards to going “…anywhere near the black tank…”! When young couples have babies in diapers, moms are troopers when it comes to changing dirty diapers, while dads are usually, “Ahh, hell nah!” Lol! (Well, not my hubby, he did a good job and no gagging.) Enter the empty nesters and retirees, and most couples I see, it’s the guy doing the black tank stuff. 🤭🫣 So guys, what goes ‘round…
