Fantastic instructor, great person. And I'm also afraid of his wife who once kicked my ass while casually singing. good video....i love silat...cause i'm from indonesian....silat is complated martial art for self defend....punch .... kick ...... dings and lockdown......but in my city traditional silat......that's very dangerous Silat.....example....you and your friends sit facing each other while holding a knife attack and that one of them survived ..... every time there's always exercise the wounded.....that's traditional silat......good video n i respect for u ;)

One difference is that Silat has a history going back thousands of years and in that time has developed into over 2000 different systems in South East Asia most of which were repeatedly tested in the battles that saw the rise and fall of villages, kingdoms, empires and battles of independence, it has a strong spiritual and healing side as well as a specialization in bladed weapons which were often coated in poison. Silat does not have a single founder, nor should it be thought of as a single martial art. Whereas Krav was developed around 1948 by a Hungarian man who had studied boxing and wrestling as a child and then engaged in street fights in Bratislava before joining and training a zionist paramilitary force who primarily used firearms and explosives to fight British forces and later unarmed or poorly armed olive farmers. After 1948 Krav was exported and heavily marketed as an anything goes military combative method and popularized by Jennifer Lopez (Jenny from the block). Krav Maga places the emphasis on repeatedly and aggressively assaulting a target in the hopes that the violent aggression overwhelms the opponent. Krav Practitioners are best known to champion biting the testicles and penis of opponents (trademark technique), scratching at the eyes and repeatedly kneeing or elbowing the exact same spot after closing with an opponent. As to which style is most effective in a street fight? As I explained above Silat has over 2,000 different systems so generalization cannot be avoided. It is my experience that if the stakes are life or death, if the objective is a justified killing of a skilled enemy especially with bladed weapons then most Silat methods are superior but if the objective is to beat up an unskilled opponent without killing them and who is not used to aggression and does not have the sense to cover an area that is being repeatedly attacked or recognize and counter a move that is being repeated over and over and also no weapons are involved than Krav has a 32% chance of effectiveness.

+shahrul nazim Silat Indigenous to the Malay people but spread from MINANG (West Sumatera, Indonesia) to other region such as Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore etc. The oldest Silat is from Minang not Malaysia.. Malay is just one of many tribes in Indonesia.. Historically, while Silat is an umbrella term use by Malay people for martial arts in general, the Sundanese use the term Maenpo, while the Javanese use the term PENCAK for any kind of martial arts.. So, in modern time for purpose of simplicity so as not to make a confusion, the Government decided to merge those words to become PENCAK SILAT as an umbrella term for any kind of activity regarding fighting styles (martial arts).. Similar in China ~ Kung Fu.. And these other tribes like Javanese, Sundanese, Dayak, Papua, Lombok, Nias People; already had their own kind of fighting style which doesn't resemble anything at all with Silat ~ which means the are independently developed and dates back to hundred of years ago.. Even though some of it are influencing each others.. So, you need to be clear on these subject! Whose influencing who and to what degree..
