Cass to Durbin Castaway Caboose 2024

Hello all I recently went on a trip to the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley railroad for their Castaway caboose experience. Stopping in the town of Cass the day before we went to Durbin W. Virginia. Glad to see the line between Cass and Durbin connected again, since the washouts! We really need to make it back and ride this line.

@@brianfalzon6739 I would agree but after talking to a few folks who work at the D&GVR I was told the boiler for the No.3 climax is shot and needs replaced.

@brianfalzon6739 - because steam boilers are hard worked and under extreme stress from the steam pressure when in service! As the Climax No.3 boiler is probably original to the locomotive, then it is about one hundred years old and overdue for replacement! If this is the case then the cost of repairs will be huge!

the size of some of the stock they can run on this old trackwork is hilarious.. I'm guessing they only run the large coaches and diesels on the lower sections of the line?

Why do they switch sides now with witch the locomotive pulls the train? For show? Just seems silly the do it at the Cass depot before they depart now
