this video is a reminder why, songs like this one that hey Monday did, and Oliver anthonys Rich Men hit so hard.. Because they were singing from the soul. more concerned about being real, authentic, than 'trying to sing' or 'make a hit' every time I try, I force, and the words never come out.. it must flow naturally. also, I'm not a singer, but how many guys and gals have we seen with raw talent, whose first songs we absolutely loved them for.. until those powers in place got a hold of them and dictated to the artists what they should sing, how they should sing it, resulting in ultimate disaster of the artist... yes they might of reached celebrity status,... but they stopped producing real music the moment they started listening to what someone else thought was great.

I like Cassadee Pope, she has a great voice. I knew about her long before the voice. What I don't get is why they let her on the Voice considering she was doing well with Hey Monday. She already had a following due to band. I'm kinda confused how she was allowed to compete on there considering she had been signed to Columbia Records and also been on a bunch of tours.

i think there's a grace period or something. like if not considered successful by big industry standards or if you have been without a label for a certain amount of years, then you can compete. that's my best guess because there's been several people compete on those types of shows who have been signed previously or who had a decent amount success years previous
