When you switch registers and produce an unintended and noticeable break, it's called cracking. If you intentionally do it, it's called yodel. Normal singing teachers will teach you to smoothly switch between chest and head voice.

It's literally and technically... Voice cracking. It does not mean necessarily ugly or bad (if it is a stylistic choice, at least). Switching between registers can also be seamless and clean.

I believe I was yodeling as a kid, I just didn’t know that’s what it was. I did the voice breaking a lot when I’d sing, people didn’t like it but I sure loved how it sounded and still do. I hope I can figure out how to do it right! Thanks for the video!

Been singing songs from an artist who uses some of these techniques in their music. Looking up yodeling tutorials was the ONLY way i could find any info on this lmao. I've been able to do it in some cases for a long time, but I need to practice more so I can use these techniques any time I want

I've been having the same problem too, LOL. It's only like, today that I've gotten the hang of it. I watched another KZbinr who helped me figure it out. Basically, add more breath into it. Don't make it so connected.
