Great video, as always! One thing that people forget when looking at the resale prices is the significant commission that a consignment store takes, secondly the fact that something is listed for a X price, doesn’t mean someone would be willing to actually pay that price.

Precisely, if they’re going to sell your bag for $1000, you’re probably going to get $500-600. The fact is leather goods are not an investment, if you want to invest in something wearable, fine jewelry is the best bet, but you will still will probably not make your money back, just less loss than on leather goods.

But hand bags are NOT investments for financial reasons- or long term gains- that are meaningful anyway- if you can afford those wild bags that are extremely expensive then you aren’t worried about selling them or money in general 😂😂 Love your videos!!!! I use my*jklux* as a work bag and have had no issues at all. It’s a comfortable bag, fits a good amount and hadn’t lost its shape. With that being said, I also take care of all my bags and don’t carry a water bottle, pens, keys or anything that can damage the interio.

I like to buy timeless bags or styles airy the occasional trendy one. Typically I buy trendy bags from lower level brands or brands that don’t really make bags because they tend to be a bit cheaper. if people think hermes bags as investments then they need to treat it like a real investment and take into account the cost to acquire and the resale fees. yes the bags cost x and on the resale market you can sell it for x BUT what about the money you spent to get the opportunity to buy the bag and the fees the resale platform takes? Every true investment when doing the math takes into account and minuses all costs to arrive at the profit. people aren't making the money they think they are with hermes bags. People need to stop calling these bags investments if they aren't willing to stop doing girl math lol

Resale asks however are not selling prices…. We don’t have information on selling prices. I suspect a lot of the priced products are not moving at all. I am also unconvinced with many of the Hermes’ bags as the retail prices doesn’t take into account the ridiculous amounts people waste on getting access to buying these bags in the first place. People can spend a small fortune building up their Hermes’ record so they aren’t really making money if they spend many times the price of the bag to even get offered the bag… it’s all a very bad idea. Including Chanel. It’s such a gamble. I stopped a while ago and only buy bags now that I will trash… 😂

Investment is a misnomer when applied to bags. Buy what you love but know that even the ones that can make money, are very probably about to tank in resale. If you have a big collection, I would sell and buy an ETF that tracks the top 500 US businesses. Hermes is a marketing phenomena. It could collapse overnight.

Hermes will not make you money because you spend so much money for other stuff from Hermes before you get offered let’s say a mini kelly. If it truly is 1:1 spend before you get offered one and you sell one for 21K that retailed for 10K basically it’s just break even.
