i have the same yarn scrap problem as you. i finally found the perfect solution for me, which is to make a rectangle granny stitch throw blanket! you just crochet around and around until the blanket is the size you want. The best part is that any time you end up with a yarn scrap, you can just attach it to your blanket and keep going around :)

In my area we have a place where we can donate unused craft supplies and I dropped off all my acrylic yarn and they were THRILLED.
