I loved your disclaimer. The part you said, "Your' knits are just as valuable as my knitting" brought tears to my eyes because of how it was said. It just wasn't words, you meant that with all your being and I felt it with all of mine. Please take care of yourself "Gentle Heart". Wish we were neighbors, but just pretend I am. Keep up your podcasts. I so enjoy them!!!! Ms. Jo

i want to say thank you for always celebrating any happy accidents that happen in your knitting! today i messed up while knitting a sweater and had to pull back over 1,300 stitches (super stressful for me). i fixed it but felt discouraged afterwards, and your reminder that these things just make our garments perfectly imperfect and handmade is exactly what i needed!

I also got the Arctic knits book from the petite knitter and I am so in love with her designs 😍 I can't wait to see what you plan to knit in this book ☺️ I haven't followed your knitting adventures for that long so I didn't see all your colorwork hats and baby knits but you did a great job ! And your Acadian and Shenandoa hat 😍 I kind of like the low contrast that you gave to the leaves but I totally see you project on switching the colors ☺️ Thank you for this year of knitting, your video was so nice to watch and well organised, it gives me so much inspiration for my next years knitting wrap up video ( I already filmed my 2024 wrap up and am working on it but it will be a lot more "young mom" messy haha !) Happy to get on board for 2025 with you ❤️

So fun to see all your knits from the past year! For the hat with the white and lavender colorwork mixup, you could always just duplicate stitch those parts to fix them if you want! Duplicate stitch would also be great for putting your son’s monogram letter on the back of the stocking 😊

that’s a smart idea, but I think I'll leave it as it is. the mistakes are part of the story of the hat and it doesn’t really bother me! 🥰 however I do wish I could fix the issue on the arctic light where I didn’t do the first cable cross on one side… that does bother me!😭

A great selection of projects for the year. For a loose brim on a hat or neck, I use elastic thread and just darn it around through the back of the rib stitches. You can get it at fabric stores or online. Works for necks of sweaters too, if they are too loose. Great podcast - Happy New Years.

Oh, favourite thing I knit in 2024 - I am all over the place with my knitting but for adult items, the Ranunculus. Never thought I would ever make it going by the pattern picture. But, all the remakes of it recently got me hooked. I made one and then another and then made it into a baby size as well. And for baby knitting, which I’m making a baby hope chest for my nephew, along with the baby Ranunculus, my favourite thing was the Bryce’s Cardigan. It was a lot of work but when I look at it, I just think wow. Your colorwork is beautiful. There are so many things to make but I’m finally getting the gist that less and beautiful is better than just pumping out more and more.
@morganunraveled
@morganunraveled Ай бұрын
I felt the same way with the ranunculus - the ranunculus hashtag appeals me to the design more than the project photos personally! I love how you’re going about your crafting! It’s so great to hear about you putting so much time into making special pieces for your nephew, that is so thoughtful! I love the mindset you’ve come to with creating a few quality pieces over cranking out a lot - definitely something to balance as an excited beginner but I completely agree. 💛

hi! love tour cozy channel ❤ making a comment mid watch so i dont forget! you can absolutely frog yarn held double-i would just wind the two strands as you go into a ball. then you can separate the strands from the ball into two separate balls (unwind 2-5 metres of the double yarn, then wind into two balls. you can deal with twists either by spinning your original ball or just passing one of the new balls around the yarn). you do have to do it manually but i find it to be a relaxing meditative process. i’ve separated mohair and merino in this way going back to watching the rest of this video now 😊

I've knitted several rananculus which were gifted to granddaughters but my favourite is the one in black cotton. In high temperatures in sunny Spain it is so comfortable. My favorite thing I knit this year was my HEAVLY modified Sadie sweater by Ozetta. I knit in much smaller gauge and added elements from other designs I’ve knitted. I also over dyed the whole sweater a magenta color. I definitely need to knit with more fingering or sport weight yarn as I live in Florida.

that’s an amazing achievement, modifying a knit especially gauge really steps into a new realm as a knitter! definitely want to try overdying next year too, I hope it worked well for you. Your Bookclub Cardigan is beautiful, I think the narrower button band looks better than the original pattern and less heavy, the same with the alternative button band that Sarah from Two Purls in a Pod did - both improvements on the official pattern. Your Arctic Light is inspiring me too - I was intimidated by the amount of work in it, but maybe I can do it! My favourite knit from my FOs is my Salty Days cardigan adaptation - its super cosy and I'm wearing it even now in our South Island NZ "summer".

😅 okay soooo we will not be here forever so we only brought what we could fit in two large suitcases, two carry ons, and two “personal items”. we packed minimally - I literally removed my extra shoes to bring my WIP yarn hahah. we brought what we ‘needed’ and planned to buy ‘replacements’ when we arrived of things we would rather store there, and we rented a furnished place here. but when we return to the U.S. we will be budgeting to ship a few boxes - it will just have to be done. 😬 we’ve bought many things will will want to take back - such as things I’ve knit, yarns I’ve bought, etc!

yes I plan to. unfortunately I noticed this pilling on my first wear so that’s why I think it may be felting rather than pilling. I may try to get comfortable with using it on an old thrifted sweater before going at my Book Club cardigan!

First of all, happy new year to you and your family! I adore every single piece you knitted. The Salty Days Sweater is definitely on my list this year 😊 I have a question to you as a knitter travelling to Australia. I am going there in a few weeks and already thinking about what to bring knittingwise. I just saw that you're not allowed to bring any wool into the country. I am wondering if I can bring cotton yarn instead... Do you have any experiences with that? I think my wooden needles in my carry-on will be OK - I did that before. But I desparetely need something to knit on during my 14-h flight 😄
@morganunraveled
@morganunraveled 28 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! I was worried about the same thing, but I had no issues bringing wool. I declared it & my box of tea leaves upon entry and they didn’t even pull it out to check it, they just ran our bags through the machine one more time and cleared us, thankfully. not sure if you’d have the same luck but I’d hope so! guess it’s the same as most knitters not having issues taking needles of flights but the rare bad luck that your agent is in a bad mood you may have them taken. wishing you the best on your travels here!☀️

when they're held double you just frog them the exact same. You just get a ball of double yarn. Which you can then split if you want.
@morganunraveled
@morganunraveled Ай бұрын
I usually use a ball winder to frog/unravel, and I only have one ball winder so it would definitely be a different frogging experience! 🐸
@kaboomsihal1164
@kaboomsihal1164 Ай бұрын
@@morganunraveled you can just use the same ball winder to get both off at once. You probably wont want to unravel the combined yarn with a ball winder anyway because it'll just get tangled every 2 seconds. That's the annoying "by hand" part, unless you want to use it double next time as well. I've once had some success with one strand on a ball winder and holding the other at tension, winding a little at the time then rolling the second one up etc. Not sure that was actually easier than doing both by hand.

I’m sorry to hear that! I’m not happy with mine either, I kinda wish the acadia pattern was more inspired by the rocky coasts than the birch but I thought it would be a good first colorwork project since it was such minimal colorwork - turns out that’s trickier because of having to catch floats. nonetheless I’m happy I was able to learn on it but don’t love the finished product or yarn haha
