He and Randolph Scott are my favorite movie cowboys. Being a native Texan living near his hometown of Farmersville, TX, whenever I drive through there and see the street sign "Audie Murphy Blvd", I think of him, am reminded of his glorious feats of valor, his wonderful movies, and I smile to myself.

Audie Leon Murphy (20 June 1925 - 28 May 1971) was an American soldier, actor, and songwriter. He was one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. He received every military combat award for valor available from the United States Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. Murphy received the Medal of Honor for valor that he demonstrated at the age of 19 for single-handedly holding off a company of German soldiers for an hour at the Colmar Pocket in France in January 1945, before leading a successful counterattack while wounded and out of ammunition.

Murphy was definitely a gifted man and artistic acting performance. His role is almost always gloomy or challenging one but apparently true to his real world character. Peace from he4e, Kirkuk.

Yes, Army. His combat service, which was 3 years, is covered in To Hell and Back. I miss him. When I was little, he was still alive. My dad referred to him as whatever his rank was at the time. He had reenlisted in the Guard and retired with the rank of Major. Audie, not my dad. As a fellow Texan, I was crushed when his plane went down in '71.

Im sorry but killing your fellow man doesnt make you a hero .Im not saying anything bad about Mr Murphy but I dont believe in war ,its barbaric .Think about it you are taking someone elses life .I know people will castagate me but thats, ok. God doesnt give us the right to kill someone .he just doesnt

@@paulajay473The Bible says the man who doesn't defend. His Family is worse than an infidel. Ordain't the government has the right to bear the sword. Jesus is not a pacifist. If you care to read revelation you'll see his robe is covered in blood. If you're alive when you return, will it be splattered with yours as well?It will with hundreds of millions.

I dont believe in war and maybe Audies experience just strenghens my opinion .He was what you guys call a hero but his experience with war changed him .He had nightmares and drank to much . He said it profoundly changed him and not for the better . We are not suspossed to kill our fellow man . Though Shall Not Kill.
