I'm not sure if it's the origin of it, but I know of a clock artisan who was executed by a king or something because they used iiii by mistake instead of the correct iv. Some people from the craft started using it as an homage or sympathy for the unfair execution

As a note, Echo, as she stated in this run, is cursed. In the original Myth, she was cursed by Hera to only be able to say the last words spoken to her. She's literally incapable of saying anything unique. (and I get the feeling that she's an Oread (mountain nymph) because mountains were probably the mot prominent source of echos in ancient Greece)

*Spoilers ahead* My build was a lvl. 7 Zeus special staff run with Poseidon dash. I ended up getting three hammers because I strategically took the hammer last and then got the Echo chamber where I chose to get the last item I picked up. I felt like a giga brain for that and my ego was so high that it carried me through the run. That was my first time seeing Chronos and he ate my special spam until he couldn’t anymore lmao

The biggest thing about Chronos that throws me off every time I fight him is his immunity to being slowed by Omega Bullet time. I relied on that Arcana card heavily throughout the entire game, and his immunity was so subtle i didn't even notice that it was a thing until i tried to use the Phase Shift Hex on him and he had dialogue. I've beaten him twice now and I'm still struggling to adjust to it

That's why I stopped Relying on that Card.... I charge all my Omegas in Real Time now.... That Being Said.... Even Time is unable to Escape your Cast once he's Caught in it (Unless he Teleports) So Relying on that is Recommended.... Even if he Doesn't Move That Much.

It’s a 4 in Greek not in Roman numerals that’s why it’s 4 lines instead of IV, in Tartarus I mean on the quick path to Cronos! So yes it is just a 4 you don’t have to read between the lines

You inspired me to try a cast build and I went further than I had last time on the last boss (about the same as you in this run). Mine was a scorch cast build that really got started once I got the boon that makes scorch dmg instantly after 300 dmg have accumulated. I got it to lvl 6 too by the end so it was dealing something like 105/110% of scorch dmg at once. It was super safe but super slow up to Tartarus (I think I lost like 60 health to Cerberus despite the fight taking forever xD), and in Tartarus I decided to do every room before going to the end, and while it cost me a death defiance on the very last one, it got me two Daedalus hammers in a row that gave me a monstrous special that would one-shot any amount of armor and be spammed in front of me (I was playing with the torches). On top of that the range is so much longer than the normal attack, it was the perfect complement to spam from outside the screen in between omega casts. Sadly I hadn't taken the card that increase dmg within the cast which was stupid but I forgot, maybe I'd have saved that death defiance for the last boss if I had it. Still thanks for the inspiration, I'm having tons of fun right now. My only complaint is that the runs feels like they require more endurance and are longer than in Hades 1, so I take more breaks in between them since I started reaching the second to last boss. What I learned is that if I'm relying on a non spammable cast or don't have a lot of AoE, I really need something to get rid of the armor to make Tartarus 10 times easier.

The Torches have actually become one of my favorite weapons. I just had a really great run with them with Zeus on the Special and just running through enemies. I also got the Demeter Zeus duo which is particularly insane with that weapon!

Yes, on attack builds, lightning strike for 50 magic is monstrous. Combined with the hammer that gives double attack on the basic weapon, it's been my second strongest build so far (well the most powerful offensively, but it's a bit lacking defensively).

I feel like this game is overall more strategic than the first, requiring more careful movement and planning than pure force like what Zagreus was throwing out. Enemy attacks are more dodgeable, and weapons are longer range for the most part, meaning you play outside their range or go for an aggro boon build. That being said I definitely think later game upgrades and weapon aspects will be super helpful, along with the fact that the difficulty allows me to feel good progressing in hub upgrades rather than just flattening the final Boss quickly

Apollo's special with anything that reduces omega cost/channel on the axe hard carries. No-hit the sirens easily, made it all the way on like my 3rd axe run. Arachne's magick regen robe helped a ton too, her keepsake has been my go-to so far.

That Depends... Did you play Hades 1 in Early Access ? Because that was Difficult Too. It only became Easier when it was Closer to Launch. I'm guessing Hades II is just going through that same Process because it took 50 Attempts for me to Beat Both Games in Early Access.

The travesty of that final battle perfectly encapsulates the problem with Eris' blessing. Nobody wants to fail like that. brought low by a "You're making too much progress" mechanic. If I'm gonna die in Oceanus on my first run, it should be from inexperience or lack of strength. It simply doesn't feel fair that failure is shoved onto me.

I love static shock on blades cuz the cost of omegas are low and pairing it with any attack boon makes the dmg go up pretty crazy.

Best is Apollo cast, and duo boon with Zeus for more cast damage. There is additional Demeter cast damage but I don’t like it because it moves the cast as I move - I like to put down cast and run away. There is also an additional Icarus additional damage on cast but you don’t see him often. Cast does huge damage and it’s cheap to cast omega.

Feels like the Daedalus hammers are much more boring than the Hades 1 hammers. But then again it could just BE nostalgia since a lot of hammers are very basic as well Maybe its because of the omega attacks. Hades 1 had like hold down to flurry attack or charge an attack, but due to Omega attack these cant happen.

I think the main thing making Eris feel bad is that there’s no variety or benefits. Something as simple as her shuffling through debuffs you have to work around (+dmg taken, +magick costs, +foes per chamber, etc.) would at least make it dynamic. And then maybe giving small buffs to go with it. Like, after each guardian you beat with the debuff, you deal +2% damage. After each guardian you beat, you get +10 max health. After each guardian, gain +2 passive magick regen. They aren’t huge buffs, and the trade off for getting her later is she also doesn’t give you higher benefits. The slow build-up and the disproportionately negative effects would still let her feel like strife and would still slow down faster runners, but she wouldn’t be quite so frustrating.

It sounds like you have the *Big Chop* Daedalus Hammer Upgrade that only lets you the Final Attack.... But that Doesn't Explain the first Issue.... Which I didn't Understand.🤔 Anyway the Axe's Image Attack had Strange Dash Cancelling Behaviour.... If you Dash and Let Go Of Attack it Will Cancel.... If You Dash will Still Holding Attack... It Will Dash and do the Omega Attack at the Same Time. In both Situations it will Consume Your Magic. The Omega Special can be Dash Cancelled Before It Charges But Not After....👀

Finally got my first clear and did it with the axe. Had to have 400 health to do it, but I got it done haha. The 15 dmg limit boon probably helped as well. 13 max health for every gather was nice haha.

I did it with the 13HP Regen per Second Boon.... Yes... It Exists and it's impossible to Die If you Have it... Unless you try to Die intentionally. And yeah... I used the Axe too.... Probably going to get Nerfed 🤔

I have about 60 hours in Hades 2 now and have already fought Chronos, but I NEVER use the cast. What is it supposed to do? Is it supposed to freeze enemies? I see in the first view minutes of your video that you don't use cast, but do use cast special to hit enemies with lightning damage. Does the cast special freeze enemies? Or also not. Sorry for maybe stupid questions, but I couldn't find answers in any of the online guides.

The cast, omega or not, will kinda trap enemies and stop them from reaching you as easily. In this particular run, I was using the Omega Cast because the boon we got for our cast required that I use it to deal damage. Casts in this game are often used to apply Curses like Scorch or Freeze and occasionally for big damage sources like in this run.

@@Haelian I tried it last night, but unless I find a really compelling reason to not choose damage dealing bonuses on my attack or special I don't think cast is worth it. I guess I'll try it every now and again in the hopes of getting a fun run with it (I choose fun over min maxing).

Managed to defeat chronos, I had a dual boon that was opaf: -100 health but, if not attacking/taking dmg (only attacking, special and cast didn't count) for e second, I healed for 3/s I got lucky (had 9 hp after the boon and was in Oceanus) to get epic Demeter "get 10 Max HP after you get seeds" and I had the shovel And a projectile expanding cast that inflicted freeze burn xD Losing this run would have been shameful Oh, right, I still had all 3 death defiance after the fight 🤣

I think Eris should be guaranteed on the fresh save, maybe even appear in all 3 locations with progresssively worse debuffs. So that way beating Chronos without upgrades and with stacked Eris bs could be a separate speedrun/challenge. It would also allow for special dialogue for everyone involved. Wouldn't unlock the true ending or anything like that, but still could be cool.

The Hydra Boss would Still have 3 Phases and all 8 Heads In Each Phase. 😱 The Reason it doesn't Is Because people Played the Early Access and told them it was too Damn Long.
