Sweetie I'm 71 yrs old. I own 22 pieces of cast iron cookware in various sizes, most bought at flea markets except for my Dutch Ovens with enamel interiors. My oldest one is from my Grandmother which is now 100 yrs old. It's a 5 inch skillet that was used for frying one egg at a time. I use them for frying, baking, roasting, grilling, casseroles you name it. They will outlive me. My late husband would tell people ...I'd never hit my wife, you should see her cast iron collection. lol If you take care of them the right way you only buy them ONCE. I like your style. Subbed and rang the bell. :o)

Reminds me of when my husband was alive. We were on a quest to making the perfect pizza crust. I made homemade dough and kept tweaking the recipe and we baked our personal sized pizzas in cast iron pans. They were always so good! Put that cheese right to the edge and the hot oil on the sides crisps it up beautifully. We got too fat eating pizzas every Friday and we went on a keto diet after all that and lost the weight. Moderation is key.

Pizza is getting so expensive at the shops. Would you please share your dough recipe. I have one and it's ok. I am always looking for new recipes. Thank you.😊
@zephirinedrouhin373526 күн бұрын
@ I’m sorry for not replying sooner! I had to find it! Keep in mind that this is a basic recipe. I kept tweaking here and there. In a bowl add the following and mix: 1 C. Hot water (bath water hot, not scalding or boiling! Kills the yeast if it’s too hot) 2 tsp. Yeast 1 T. Sugar In a larger bowl: 3 C. Flour 1 T. Baking powder 1 T. Onion flakes 1 T. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. Garlic powder 1 tsp. Salt Mix well! Add 4 T. Oil to your yeast mixture. Add the yeast mixture to your flour mixture and mix to make a soft dough. Drizzle a little oil over the dough, use your hand to moisten the outside of the dough ball. Cover for 30 minutes. I have used the dough without letting it rise. I actually did this often and it still turned out good. Knead your dough and divide it 3 ways for 3 personal sized pizzas. Roll each into a ball. Flatten on floured cutting board and use a roller pin or use your hands to make disks. You can just make one large pizza if you want. Put enough oil in the cast iron pan to oil up the entire bottom and sides. Lay your dough in the pan. Put your pizza sauce on, toppings and don’t be shy with the shredded cheese, put it all the way to the edge of your pizza. I can not remember the length of time it took to bake, but I do recall the oven temp was 400 degrees. Just keep an eye on it. Your cheese should be melted and bubbly and brown. You can double check the crust by lifting with a metal spatula, make sure it’s brown. Make note of how long it took so you don’t have to baby sit it so much next time. Good luck, enjoy! I have tried it with less oil, I’ve tweaked the amount of liquid, sugar, flour. Just enjoy a little change here and there until you like it. My husband wanted it chewier. I read that I probably should have been using a different kind of flour called semolina. So, get some semolina flour for chewier dough. Edited to say, I looked up the temperature to bake a pizza in a cast iron skillet because I could be wrong about 400 degrees. I read to bake it as hot as possible 450-500 degrees. I hope your pizza turns out great.

In cast iron pizza making, I build the pie and have oven preheated as hot as it will go, 500F if inside up to 600F if outdoors on gas grill, then "fry" on a burner on a lower medium setting to get the pan hot and the oil sizzling. NOT TOO HOT! Once dough begins to rise it's time to shut off the burner and let the pan set for a few minutes to get your money's worth out of the pan preheat. Next put pizza in preheated oven and remove when top ingredients are done and cheese has melted. The stove top preheat will give your bottom crust extra crunch and reduces bake time in the oven as the cast iron does take awhile to rise to a good frying temperature if directly tossed into the oven. Nice pizza and Don Pepino is pretty good for a quick and easy sauce. Thumbs up on the video!

Looks fantastic, I get my dough from Jets right around the corner and thier sauce, it`s like $4.00. Then I build my own at home, i`m an anchovie guy, but only allowed to put in on half, hehe, well done sir.

I make a homemade sourdough pizza in my 18 inch cast iron skillet! I make the sour dough from scratch. But I use Prego sqetty sauce, store bout mozzarella cheese, and usually ham lunch meat. Yummy Yummy for your tummy!

@thefacelesscook4514 Thanks, but my sourdough takes two days to make by itself.I make the starter at least one day prior. I'm old and crippled, so by the time I'm finished making the dough, I've had enough! Ha! Ha!

Awesome pizza video, would just add - throw some garlic powder and scatter some corn meal across the bottom of the pan and poke the dough all over the bottom first with a fork to make the crust crispier towards the center while adding even more texture and flavor to the crust "little Caesar" style

Make sure you "season" it. And season it every once in awhile. Google how to do it!! It's worth the effort and makes all-the-difference!!
@jadebell87902 ай бұрын
@@cecileroy557 oh thank you i will .. I got the skillet at Aldi for 9.99 and surprising it’s a real nice one .. I’ve put the oil on like it said to do and cooked in it and I had a little bit of sticking and I was frying in it and still had a little sticking so I’ll do the oil thing again. I’m very happy with it .. I’m thinking if I make the pizza in it .. all that oil will help to season it more?? .. I’d like to try the liquid pizza crust recipe in the cast iron pan .. but I want to make sure it doesn’t stick at all before i do that .. I’d definitely purchase another cast iron pan from Aldi .. it’s turned out to be a nice skillet and the price was right..

Love my Iron skillets! I don’t have a wood stove anymore, but I still use my skillets! My Gas stove died, so now I use a confection oven.I figure it out, no matter the circumstances. Inflation….. we learn to figure it out.
