A trained dancer could instantly be able to shift their weight and center of gravity constantly with ease. Taron is just SO talented a performer, that he, while not dancing, totally enhances the number Anyway!! An Example of what I mean: Chicago 's last number, "Hot Honey Rag." Renee' Zellweger did a heck of a job, but Catherine Zeta-Jones was a professional dancer. When you watch them dance together, watch Catherine's shoulders and Sternum - she's totally in control. Easily my favorite scene in the entire film, what an amazing sequence. I’m not sure if this was intended by the choreographer/director, but I love 1:40 how a girl is leading him by the hand to follow, and then is cut off by a guy dancing at him, almost alluringly? Then again at 1:53, they make deep eye contact and Elton looks away almost giddy, a little nervous. A subtle nod to his sexuality later in the film. I think that subtlety is brilliant.
@onastick24113 жыл бұрын
Yes, and the fact he leaves the pub a confident, cocky boy, but appears through the fence, a slightly gawky teenager/young man. The look of amazement on his face, and the way he mixes but doesn't mix, with the dancers. His awkward dancing style, and out of step rhythm, perhaps showing that he's an atypical member of the working class, not quite fitting in, just looking in fascination from the outside, never quite there. Itself a subtle hint at his homoerotic nature, still in its infancy, maybe?

The actors are the only good part honestly. Everything else from just a film writer, director, producer, AND editor's point of view is just highly disappointing. Okay but like the fact that this entire thing is just 2 shots is INSANE, like obviously it cuts at the transition from Kit Connor to Taron Everton (which by the way is such a good transition ugh I love it so much) but the rest of the song the camera never cuts and now my mind is blown

It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic
