I listened to the audiobook. It was a 5 ⭐️ book for me! I've read other books on this topic. Wilkerson brought something refreshing to the discussion.

I to listened and then purchased the physical book. Is this hurtful.....yes,but unfortunately it is the reality of our history! When taking in these words I would be in tears at times. Our country has really downplayed and whitewashed slavery. I really wish our young people would take the time to learn the truth and understand just what our ancestors had gone through. This book answered the what, how, and why we are where we are and let’s you know there is still such a long road to travel. I absolutely loved this book 📚

To be fair about the use of racism in the book Caste, she doesn't use it the term racism in The Warmth of Other Suns. Think of caste in this sense as she does in the book, caste is the bones where it's hard to change, race is the skin, and class is the clothes. Caste is structural and hard to change, and it's difficult to change the color of your skin. She doesn't offer any solutions because she said that she's just the writer. She mentions a book in passing that one should consider reading Stigma and Culture: Last-Place Anxiety in Black America by J.Lorand Matory.
