Castelo Hotel de Palmela

O Castelo de Palmela localiza-se na vila, freguesia e município do mesmo nome, distrito de Setúbal, em Portugal.
Na península de Setúbal, no contraforte Leste da serra da Arrábida, está situado entre os estuários do rio Tejo e do rio Sado, próximo à foz deste último. Inscreve-se na chamada Costa Azul, no Parque Natural da Arrábida. Do alto da sua torre de menagem, em dias claros a vista se descortina até Lisboa.
O Castelo de Palmela está classificado como Monumento Nacional desde 1910.
As instalações do antigo convento foram requalificadas a partir de 1945 como pousada, integrando, a partir da década de 1970, a rede Pousadas de Portugal. Desde o final do século XX têm tido lugar trabalhos de prospecção arqueológica no recinto do castelo, transformando-se alguns espaços em salas museológicas, áreas de serviços e de comércio.
The Palmela Castle is located in the village, parish and municipality of the same name ,district of Setúbal ,in Portugal.
On the Setúbal peninsula , in the eastern foothills of the Arrábida range , it is located between the estuaries of the Tagus and Sado rivers , close to the mouth of the latter. It is part of the so-called Costa Azul , in the Arrábida Natural Park . From the top of its keep , on clear days the view extends to Lisbon.
Palmela Castle has been classified as a National Monument since 1910.
The facilities of the former convent were reclassified from 1945 onwards as a pousada , integrating, from the 1970s onwards, the Pousadas de Portugal network . Since the end of the 20th century , archaeological surveys have been carried out in the castle grounds, with some spaces being transformed into museum halls, service and commercial areas.
