I was wondering.. What if you 'd make a set of Metal Moulds?.. Guaranteed to have a great surface finish right out of the mold.. and if you do have a lathe.. that makes trimming the back way easier and better..

If you can manage to get your hands on a small tumbler (or diy one) you could probably smooth those molds down enough to get rid of the lines

Have a look for Quickun Plastic Exhaust Air Silencers, they can quiet the sound of the released air on that pressure pot quite well. There's a company using them to silence deflating stand up paddle-boards.

Would it be possible to make wheels with a soft urethane body, perhaps with some holes through, and a harder few mm surface urethane? Guessing it would be a two-step process. Thinking it would give a smoother ride on rough asphalt while keeping full power slide-ability?

Those are NOT Vice Grips, those are channel lock pliers. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES when using any replaceable blade knife in that fashion. When they snap small bits of blade shrapnel fly everywhere.

Absolutely *love* these videos, and being a bit of a DIY’er myself throughout the years, and skating since the late 80s, finally trying my hands on something like this has been a long time coming, so these videos are great :) I have a couple of questions regarding the urethane you use and the duro they produce, if you have the time: how does it compare to commercialy produced wheels? as in can the duro on the 90 formula be changed, for would one have to use the 40 formula, or how does that whole thing work? Can the 90-formula be softened to make softer wheels? And do the wheel manufacturers actually «blend» their own urethane formula’s based on some «base mixes» they have? Sorry if this is a lot of questions, just very curious about the difference between these «off the shelf» mixtures vs the ones used by wheel manufacturers and how much the off the shelf stuff can be «modified» :)

As far as I understand it, urethane is one formula = one durometer. I don't think you can modify the duro of a formula without doing damage to it. Wheel manufacturers will often have proprietary urethane formulas that they've worked together with resin manufacturers to get the properties they want

Resin printers make EXCELLENT molds, you can see some of my experiments with that in previous videos. I am not very good at resin printing though, which is why I'm doing my best to make FDM printed molds work as best as possible.

Ive tried unsuccessfully to mold wheels with your open source mold. I'm happy to see this follow up video. Are your molds FDM or resin printed? What material are your molds? Also, what brand of "paste wax" did you use? Thanks, Chris!

I've done both FDM and Resin (PLA and an ABS-like resin respectfully) and the paste wax I use is called trewax. It's a wood finish but I wonder if there are mold-treating specific waxes out there. What went wrong with your castings? Maybe I can help troubleshoot

Have you explored affiliate links w/amazon yet? I've done exactly 1 video with affiliate links, and its easily my most profitable video in... 4 years. More money from a un-monetized video with 7k views, than a monetized hit with 70k. I've not done much with affiliate stuff because, well, lately I'm mostly doing experiments people aren't going to have reason to copy. But for tutorials and how-to's you tend to have a lot more opportunities for it. I've actually been looking to get a pressure pot and actually drove to Harbor Freight yesterday and they're out of stock, and now you're sharing a link to one. Side note, I also Just had Covid. So I've only had pre-recorded videos to put up for the past little bit.
