In this video, I continue my series of redoing old Casting videos, conveniently in the leadup to Survivor 50, where this time I will be redoing my Heroes vs. Villains cast. As a disclaimer, this isn't who I want to get cast, but more so who I think both, production would select and would want to come back.

I’m surprised you didn’t consider Erika for hero, she’s one of the modern winners with the biggest underdog storylines. Also am I crazy for still considering Emily a villain?? Even with her redemption I think her view on the game more aligns with villain and I would like to see her on that tribe personally. I see katura as more villainous as well (her entire pre merge and up until Bruce left was pretty negative + her turning on belos) but I understand from production’s perspective they might not see it like that.

kaleb did initially say in his pregame interview that he wanted to play like a villain, but than helping emily improve her game made him a hero. i think people give emily way too much credit over kaleb. she might've been the last lulu left, but she would've been gone a lot sooner if it wasn't for him

Something worth noting is that Jeff has been fairly open that this season is in the fan’s hands, more or less. I think for their first true returnee cast since 34, there’s likely to be a heavy emphasis on who the fans want to see back. Players like Frannie, Noelle, Dee, Drew, and even Jonathan and Tiffany are definitely bordering the outskirts against much more beloved players like Cydney, Victoria, Devon, Janet, Davie, Jay, Cody, and Venus

Watching this over and over again I hear "We were clearly supposed to feel X about Y" and it really sounds bizarre to me. I don't know if I just don't react to certain cues the way TMR does, but if they were pushing these narratives, then speaking for myself (and I know they don't care what any one random viewer thinks) they mostly failed.

I think being an underdog or a neutral fan favorite makes you an automatic hero in survivor world. Like sugar and Stephanie were not heroic even half of the time, but they were underdogs in their seasons so hero. James clement did nothing really heroic except being an honest player I guess? But he’s a fan favorite who wasn’t particularly villainous so he’s a hero… Devens is a hero 100% for that reason regardless of his actual gameplay, which was mixed.

Carolyn from Worlds Apart is kinda like Coach. You can argue both a hero and a villain and people wouldn’t bat an eye with a decent argument.

Having a cutoff point adds an unnecessary constraint which limits how good of a cast you can have.

Dude this POC mandate shit is so stupid. Pick the objectively most interesting characters, what makes survivor so cool is that it has always been inclusive of different people. Forcing interesting players to not be cast just because they are non POC is its own form of prejudice all based on appearance. Casting has to do better.
