Really enjoyed this series, can't wait for the "big" ones!
@JulianMakes5 жыл бұрын
thank you so much Gary! i've polished up this little one and it looks good enough to give away so... "The clean up" and "prize draw" will be part 4. Then we can move on to the bigger stuff :)

Casting the moon is really a great undertaking. I'm looking forward to see the bigger moons glow in the moulds!

I'm actually on the edge of my seat for Ep.4. Someone else said you're clearly motivated by something more than money and I think thats exactly right! your content is legitimately high quality and I think with your castings you could shoot for the moon! (the puns are not coming to me)
@tasquizztaylor16985 жыл бұрын
P.S. maybe you could cast a Falcon 9 rocket? You seem space-interested
@JulianMakes5 жыл бұрын
thank you so much Tasquizz, yeah i'm just doing it for fun :) actually i only was allowed monetisation on the channel last month! (only took two years lololol). Yeah i love space and all things sciencey (i used to be a scientist of sorts). ooooh that's a great idea! (i'll add it to the list - cheers) hmm i quite like the older saturn V's they are just so huge!!!

The first was better than expected, I think, the second one is incredible - and I'm writing this before you even finished it off. Even on my tablet I can see craters! For someone who loves astronomy, I got quite excited at this point. Can't wait to see the finished article. Only a few minutes... 😁 Edit: the "rough" patch on the second moon casting looks quite like the very rough areas on the Moon's far side, tbh. V few people (relative to the population as a whole) would know if any craters etc were missing. It's usually seen as "smooth" on the face we see and massively cratered on the face we don't. Only a real expert would be able to tell at a glance that the rough area wasn't meant to be quite so rough! I think it still looks amazing considering it's your first attempt! I could still hate you for being so talented 😜

haha thank you Mam! yeah i was super suprised with the craters on the good one. You never know you might end up wining a moon! righ toff for a run now (sigh) o/

I actually thought the first one would be a dud, it didn't look like it took any metal into the mould at all... really pleased it worked though, it really looks fantastic and the craters came out great. Such a shame about the second one, I'd just call it a cannonball and file it as a win !! Look forward to seeing you casting the moon again in the near future !!! Cheers Andy 😎😎😎🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍

The research I have done on PLA casting is that people bring the mold up to 1350 and soak for an hour. This allows the pla to vaporize and you will get a cleaner cast.
